# Does Prefer do off-page work like PR and Reddit?

> Prefer does off-page work on Enterprise and Prefer Managed only. Self-serve plans get off-page and community action cards you execute yourself.

Prefer does off-page work for you on Enterprise (white-glove off-page execution) and on Prefer Managed, where people earn the placements, mentions and community answers AI engines cite. On the self-serve plans Prefer finds and briefs off-page and Reddit opportunities, but your team does the work.

## It depends on the plan

**Prefer does off-page work for you only on Enterprise and Prefer Managed; on the self-serve plans it finds and briefs the work, and your team does it.** Off-page means everything AI engines read about you that is not on your own site: review sites, directories, listicles and roundups, press coverage, and forum threads on Reddit and Quora. These sources carry a lot of weight in AI answers across all 5 engines Prefer tracks, so Prefer treats them as part of the job, not an extra.

| Plan | What Prefer does off-page |
| - | - |
| Starter | Tracks which off-site sources engines cite. No off-page execution. |
| Growth and Scale | Adds the prioritized action engine, which ranks off-page and community actions with templates. You execute. |
| Enterprise | White-glove off-page execution by Prefer's team, quoted by scope. |
| Prefer Managed | Done for you: editorial backlinks and community answers each month, inside a full program. |

## What "white-glove" means

The [pricing FAQ](https://tryprefer.com/pricing/) defines it plainly: white-glove means Prefer does the off-page work rather than briefing you to do it. The team earns the placements, mentions and community presence that AI engines cite in your category. That covers review-site records, listicles, digital PR and forum participation. **Each win is reported against the tracked prompts it moved, so off-page work is measured like everything else in Prefer.** The [docs FAQ](/docs/resources/faq) adds that it is human-led and custom-quoted.

Prefer Managed has its own fixed scope. It includes a set number of editorial backlinks on established domains and genuinely useful community answers in the Reddit and Quora threads AI engines cite, each month. Its scope page also lists what is outside it, including a dedicated digital PR or HARO campaign and any paid placement budget. The exact monthly counts sit on the [Prefer Managed page](https://tryprefer.com/prefer-managed/).

## What you get on self-serve plans

The Action Center sorts work into 7 categories, and 2 of them, Off-page and Community, cover this ground. An Off-page card might say a rival is listed in a roundup that ChatGPT keeps citing and you are not. A Community card might point to a Reddit thread where two competitors are recommended. Each card names the prompts and engines involved, and the plan includes copy-ready assets such as an outreach email template. In the current release every action is done by a person, and the card tracks citation lift once the work is live.

## Why Prefer will not automate it

**Off-page work at Prefer is authentic at scale, not automated.** Fake reviews, sock-puppet Reddit accounts and paid link schemes can get a brand banned from the very communities engines read. Prefer's trust page says it does not post fake reviews or invent results, and the same rule applies to client work. That is slower than a bot, and it is the version that lasts.

## How to start

1. Run the [free AI visibility audit](https://app.tryprefer.com/audit) to see which domains engines cite in your category.
2. Check whether those sources are review sites, roundups or forums.
3. If your team has time to do the outreach, a self-serve plan with the action engine fits.
4. If not, talk to Prefer about Enterprise or Prefer Managed.

## Frequently asked questions

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Does Prefer automate Reddit posts or fake accounts?">
    No. Prefer's community work is done by people, authentic at scale and not automated. On self-serve plans Prefer points you to the threads where rivals get named; on Enterprise and Prefer Managed a person writes and posts genuinely useful answers.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is digital PR included in Prefer Managed?">
    Partly. Prefer Managed includes earned editorial backlinks and community answers each month, but its scope page lists a dedicated digital PR or HARO campaign as not included. Prefer's Enterprise white-glove off-page work covers digital PR and is quoted by scope.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can a Starter or Growth customer buy Prefer's off-page work on its own?">
    Not as a self-serve add-on. Prefer offers off-page execution only on Enterprise and Prefer Managed. On Growth and Scale you get the action engine, which ranks off-page and community opportunities and gives you outreach templates to run yourself.
