# Does Prefer have a free trial?

> Yes. Prefer gives every paid plan a 7-day free trial with no card required. Tracked prompts are capped at 30 while you trial.

Yes. Prefer offers a 7-day free trial on every paid plan, and you do not need a credit card to start. Every premium feature is switched on during the trial, but tracked prompts are capped at 30 whichever plan you pick. After the trial, plans start at \$24/mo.

## What the Prefer trial includes

Prefer's trial is a full product trial, not a demo account. **Every paid Prefer plan starts with a 7-day free trial, no card required, with every premium feature switched on.** The one limit is volume: tracked prompts are capped at 30 during the trial, whichever plan you trial.

That cap matters if you plan to test a big prompt set. A tracked prompt is one question tracked in one country, with all engines in the same slot. So 30 prompts can be 30 questions in one market, or 15 questions in two markets. Pick the questions your buyers ask most and save the long tail for after you upgrade.

## How to use the trial well

The Prefer quickstart walks through six onboarding steps: project details, brand profile, topics, prompts, engines and launch. A first tracking run usually completes in a few minutes, so you can read real answers on day one. A simple plan for the trial:

1. **Sign up** at app.tryprefer.com with Google or an email magic link. Your workspace is created on first login.
2. **List** 2 to 5 competitors in onboarding so share of voice has something to compare against.
3. **Pick** the prompts that carry buying intent: "best \[category] tool", "\[you] vs \[rival]", and problem questions.
4. **Open** Monitor, then Prompts, and read the exact answer each engine gave. That evidence is the point of the trial.
5. **Check** which pages each engine cites for your top prompts, and note where a rival is cited and you are not.

**The trial is long enough to answer one question: does AI name you for the prompts that matter, and who does it name instead?** If the answer is useful, the paid plans start at \$24 a month.

## The trial versus the free audit

Prefer has two free ways in, and they do different jobs. The free audit is a one-time snapshot with no account and no card, which the docs describe as about 30 prompts. The trial is the working product: your own prompts, your competitors, the Action Center and Content Studio, for 7 days. Many teams run the [free AI visibility checker](https://app.tryprefer.com/audit) first, then start the trial once they know which gaps they want to track.

There is no free-forever plan after the trial. When the trial ends without an upgrade, tracking pauses and your data is kept. See [Prefer pricing](https://tryprefer.com/pricing/) for what each plan includes once you upgrade.

## Frequently asked questions

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Do I need a credit card to start the Prefer trial?">
    No. Prefer asks for no card to start the 7-day trial. A card only comes into it when you choose to upgrade, and from then on plan changes and cancellation happen in the billing portal.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I trial Growth or Scale instead of Starter?">
    Prefer's pricing page says every paid plan starts with a free trial, and the docs say a new workspace starts on Starter. Either way the trial switches on every premium feature and caps tracked prompts at 30, so the trial shows the full product at Starter's prompt volume.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which AI engines can I test during the Prefer trial?">
    The same ones Prefer tracks on every plan: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Perplexity. The tiers differ on volume, not on engine access, so what you see in the trial is the engine coverage you would pay for.
