# Does Prefer have an API?

> Yes. Prefer includes API access and MCP access from Growth up, and warehouse sync on Enterprise. Starter has neither. Here is which plan gets which.

Yes. Prefer includes API access on its Growth, Scale and Enterprise plans, for programmatic access to your AI visibility data, and MCP access on the same plans. Enterprise adds scheduled warehouse sync, and Starter has neither. Keys are generated in Settings, then Integrations, under API & MCP.

*Last updated 3 October 2026*

Yes. Prefer offers API access from its Growth plan up. Prefer splits programmatic access into three layers (MCP, API and warehouse sync): MCP and the API both start on Growth, and warehouse sync is Enterprise only. If you want your AI visibility data inside your own reporting, the tier you pick decides how you get it out.

## Which plan gets which kind of access

**Prefer lists API access and MCP access on Growth, Scale and Enterprise, and warehouse sync on Enterprise only.** These are the "API access" and "MCP access" rows of the /pricing comparison:

| Plan | API access | MCP access | Data export |
| - | - | - | - |
| Starter | Not included | Not included | Not included |
| Growth | Included | Included | Included |
| Scale | Included | Included | Included |
| Enterprise | Included, plus warehouse sync | Included | Included |

On the agency track, Agency Enterprise lists "Full API + MCP access" among its inclusions.

## API, MCP, export and warehouse sync: what each is for

These 4 routes answer different needs, so it helps to match the route to the job:

* **CSV or PDF export** (Growth and above): dashboards, reports and raw metrics as files, for a client deck or an offline check.
* **MCP access** (Growth and above): an AI assistant queries your Prefer data for you, for quick questions and drafted reports.
* **API** (Growth and above): your own code pulls the data, for internal dashboards and automated reporting.
* **Warehouse sync** (Enterprise): Prefer data lands in your warehouse on a scheduled basis, for joins with revenue, pipeline and web analytics in a BI tool.

**If a person reads the numbers, export or MCP is usually enough; if a system reads them, you want the API or warehouse sync.**

## How to turn it on

1. Open Settings, then Integrations, in your Prefer workspace.
2. Find the API & MCP section.
3. Generate a key.
4. Store the key in your secrets manager, never in a shared doc or a public repo.

For warehouse sync on Enterprise, select Warehouse sync on the same page and enter your warehouse credentials, per the [Integrations docs](/docs/account/integrations).

## How to choose before you buy

* Pick Growth if you need the API, MCP or exports for one to 3 brands.
* Choose Scale for more volume, white-labelled reports and a dedicated success manager.
* Choose Enterprise if AI visibility has to sit beside 12 months of revenue and pipeline data in your warehouse.
* Test the data first: run the free audit and check that its metrics are the ones your report needs.

## What the public docs do not cover yet

Prefer's public docs explain which plans include API access and where to create a key. They do not publish an endpoint reference, rate limits or data schemas, so this page does not describe them. Verify those details with the team before you build a pipeline that depends on them.

The [API and MCP access](https://tryprefer.com/platform/api-and-mcp/) page covers the integration layer, and the [export answer](/docs/help/can-i-export-data-from-prefer) covers files. To see the data you would be pulling, [run a free AI visibility audit](https://app.tryprefer.com/audit).
