# Does Prefer send alerts when AI answers change?

Yes. Prefer sends alerts so your team hears about a change without logging in to check. Which channel you get depends on the plan: email on Starter, and Slack plus real-time alerts from Growth up.

## Alerts on each plan

**Prefer includes email alerts on Starter and Slack plus real-time alerts on Growth and above.** These come straight from the plan inclusions on [/pricing](https://tryprefer.com/pricing/).

Alerts belong to ongoing tracking. The free audit runs once and returns a report, so it has nothing to alert on.

## What triggers a Slack alert

The [Integrations docs](/docs/account/integrations) list 3 kinds of change that post to your channel:

* Your visibility score changes.

* A tracked prompt produces a notable shift.

**Every Prefer alert is tied to a tracking run, because a run is the unit of time Prefer measures in.** Deltas across the app are labelled vs the previous run, and alerts start with the next tracking run after you connect. The docs do not publish custom thresholds or per-alert filters, so this page does not claim them; if you need a specific rule, ask the team before you buy.

## How to connect Slack in 5 steps

1. Open Settings, then Integrations, in your Prefer workspace.
2. Click Connect Slack on the Slack + real-time alerts card.
3. Sign in to Slack and choose the workspace.
4. Pick the channel where alerts should post.
5. Test the connection. Prefer sends a test message to confirm the channel is reachable.

You can connect 1 Slack workspace per Prefer workspace and change the channel at any time from the same settings page.

## What to do when an alert fires

An alert tells you something moved. The cause sits in the answers, so verify before you react:

* Open the prompt that moved and read the full answer from each engine.
* Check the engine split, since a blended change often comes from 1 model.
* Compare the cited sources with the previous run to see if a new page displaced you.
* Create an Action in the Action Center if the shift holds over 2 runs.
