Your AI visibility data, from the assistant you already use.
Prefer includes MCP access from Growth, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client can query your tracked prompts, citations and share of voice across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Perplexity. API access comes on the same plans, and warehouse sync with Enterprise.
The short answer
Does Prefer have API and MCP access?
Yes. Prefer offers MCP and API access on Growth and above. The MCP server exposes the data the dashboard shows: which prompts you are mentioned and cited on, across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Perplexity, the sources behind each answer, sentiment, and share of voice against the competitors you track. You connect it in minutes from the integrations docs and ask your assistant for the numbers instead of exporting them.
Writing stays in the app on purpose. Drafting a page, publishing to your CMS and queueing a fix all run through Action Center, where each change is tied to the prompt it was meant to move and re-measured afterwards. MCP is the read path for reporting and analysis; the loop that changes the answers is the product.
Key points
- MCP access on Growth and above: generate a key under Settings, Integrations, API and MCP, and connect any MCP client.
- Data export (CSV and PDF) and Slack alerts from Growth.
- API access on Growth and above; scheduled warehouse sync on Enterprise.
Access by plan
What each plan includes.
From the integrations documentation and the published plan inclusions. Prices and limits live on the pricing page.
| Capability | Included on | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| MCP access | Growth and above | An MCP key generated under Settings, Integrations, API and MCP. Query your tracked prompts, mentions, citations and share of voice from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client, and build reporting workflows on top. |
| Data export | Growth and above | Dashboards, reports and raw metrics as CSV or PDF, for offline analysis or client reporting. |
| Slack alerts | Growth and above | Real-time alerts when your visibility score moves, a competitor moves, or a tracked prompt shifts. |
| API access | Growth and above, and Agency Enterprise | Programmatic read access to the same data the dashboard shows. Brand Enterprise adds warehouse sync; Agency Enterprise lists "Full API + MCP access". |
| Warehouse sync | Enterprise | Scheduled sync of Prefer data into your data warehouse so AI visibility sits beside your internal analytics. |
The market, with sources
Which AI visibility tools have MCP access?
Only what we read on the vendor's own page or a dated inventory, with the read date. One vendor's MCP page says no competitor ships an installable server; the table is the check on that claim. For the ranked comparison see the best AI visibility tools with MCP access.

| Conductor | MCP server on a custom-quoted contract only. | CitedIndex census, 12 Sep 2026 |
| AthenaHQ, Evertune | No public MCP guide (AthenaHQ) and no customer-facing API or MCP published (Evertune), as of the dated reads. | Foglift guide, Sep 2026; CitedIndex census, 12 Sep 2026 |
Vendors change plan gates without notice. Where a row cites a third-party inventory rather than the vendor's page, treat it as a pointer to check, not a guarantee. Read dates are the day we rendered or fetched the page.

API and MCP, asked plainly.
Does Prefer have MCP access?
Yes. Prefer includes MCP access on Growth and above: you generate an MCP key in Settings under Integrations, connect it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any other MCP client, and query your tracked prompts, mentions, citations, sentiment and share of voice across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Perplexity. The API access is on the same plans, and warehouse sync is on Enterprise.
Which AI visibility tools have MCP access?
As of the dated reads on this page: Prefer (Growth and above), Otterly (from its $189 Standard plan), PromptWatch (every paid plan), Qwairy (from its $89 Starter), Peec AI (official remote server), Profound (read-only tools), Cituna (reads from $39), Asva AI, and the SEO suites Semrush, Ahrefs and SE Ranking. Conductor gates it to custom contracts, and AthenaHQ and Evertune had no public MCP documentation when we checked. Plans change, so each row on this page carries its source and date.
What is the difference between MCP access and an API?
An API is a set of endpoints your own code calls; you build the integration. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard that lets an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT call a vendor's tools directly, so you can ask the assistant "which prompts did we lose citations on this week" and it queries Prefer for you. Prefer includes both from Growth, so a team can start with the assistant path and add raw endpoints when it builds reporting pipelines.
What can I do with Prefer's MCP server?
Read your visibility data from the assistant or editor you already work in: pull your latest mention and citation numbers, list the prompts where a named competitor is cited and you are not, fetch the sources behind an answer, and draft the report from those numbers without opening the dashboard. Write actions and CMS publishing stay in the Prefer app and Action Center, where each change is tied to a re-measured outcome.
Is API access included in the price?
Yes, on the plans that include it, with no add-on. MCP access, API access and data export are included from Growth ($129 a month), and warehouse sync on Enterprise, quoted with the plan. Starter does not include MCP, the API or data export.
