The engine list, plan by plan
Prefer tracks the same engines on every self-serve plan, so the list does not change when the price does. Here is the full set as the docs and the pricing page show it:
Every self-serve plan includes the same 5 engines; the tiers differ on volume, never on engine access. Starter, Growth and Scale change how many prompts, competitors, articles, projects and seats you get. If you need Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Meta AI, DeepSeek, Qwen or any other model, Prefer Enterprise covers it as a custom plan; book a demo to scope it.
Why Google counts twice
Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode are two separate engines in Prefer, not one. They look related, but they cite different pages. In our September 2026 capture of 80 questions, only 32% of the pages AI Mode cited also appeared in the AI Overview for the same question. Gemini is a third, separate Google surface. So Prefer reports each one on its own row, and a win on one Google surface does not hide a loss on another.Where each engine shows up in the app
Every metric in Prefer splits per engine as well as blended, so you can catch a drop on one engine even when the overall number is flat. You see the split in four places:- Overview. The Platform performance heatmap shows Visibility, Share of Voice and Citation Share per engine, side by side.
- Prompts. Each prompt’s detail page filters answers by engine, and View all chats shows the exact answer each engine returned.
- Competitors. The Compare and Sources tabs both split by engine, so you can see which engines favor a rival and which cite you.
- Filter Bar. On any Monitor page, pick one engine and every number on the page recomputes for that engine alone.
How to set your engines
- Pick engines during onboarding. The wizard has an engines step. Leave all five on unless you have a reason not to.
- Run tracking. Click Run tracking now in the top bar, or wait for the scheduled run. Each run sends every enabled prompt to every enabled engine.
- Read the heatmap. Open Monitor, then Overview, and look for the engine where you are weakest. That is usually where the first action belongs.
Frequently asked questions
Do I get more engines on a bigger Prefer plan?
Do I get more engines on a bigger Prefer plan?
No. Prefer gives Starter, Growth and Scale the same five engines: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. A bigger plan buys more tracked prompts, competitors, articles, projects and seats. Only Prefer Enterprise adds engines, and it adds every other model you need, such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Meta AI, DeepSeek and Qwen.
Does Prefer charge per engine?
Does Prefer charge per engine?
No. In Prefer a tracked prompt is one prompt in one country, and every enabled engine runs inside that one slot. Asking one question across all five engines uses one slot, not five. Countries are what multiply the count.
Can I turn an engine off in Prefer?
Can I turn an engine off in Prefer?
Yes. Prefer’s onboarding wizard has an engines step where you pick which answer engines to track. Each tracking run then sends every enabled prompt to every enabled engine, so turning one off simply removes it from the runs.
