The 10 Best AEO Software Platforms for Teams in 2026

Prefer is the best AEO software for teams: five AI engines, Search Console, GA4 and content work from $24/mo. 10 platforms compared on seats, API and SSO.

Pricing and features checked 16 September 2026 against each vendor's public site

The short answer

Three picks, for three situations.

What is the best AEO software for a team?

Prefer is the best AEO software for a marketing team that wants tracking on five AI engines, Search Console and Google Analytics, Slack alerts and the content work in one workspace. Plans start at $24/mo with unlimited team members; Growth, at $129/mo, adds API and MCP access. Profound suits teams where IT decides: its Enterprise plan lists SSO/SAML, SOC 2, an API and unlimited seats. Peec AI suits a budget: unlimited users and daily tracking from $95/mo.

Best for a team program Prefer Tracking, Search Console, Google Analytics, Slack and content work in one place
Best when IT decides Profound SSO/SAML, SOC 2, API and unlimited seats on Enterprise
Best for many users on a budget Peec AI Unlimited users and daily tracking from $95/mo

DisclosurePrefer publishes this list and puts itself first. Every rival entry comes from that vendor's pricing page, read in a rendered browser and dated, or from its public docs, and each one says where it beats Prefer. We have not used the rival tools ourselves.

In short

The takeaways, up front.

  • This list compares AEO software on team workflow: seats, projects, integrations, API and SSO. For the same vendors ranked on tracking and on the work that wins citations, see our best AEO tools list.
  • Prefer (our product, disclosed) is our pick for a marketing team that wants tracking, Search Console and Google Analytics, Slack alerts and the content work in one workspace.
  • Unlimited users at an entry price: Otterly ($29), Peec AI ($95) and AthenaHQ (free, then $295). Scrunch's $250 Core names 5 user licenses; Ahrefs includes 1 seat and charges $40 to $80 per extra user.
  • SSO usually means a custom Enterprise plan (Profound, Peec AI, Prefer). Prefer lists API and MCP access from Growth, Otterly lists them at $189, and Scrunch lists Google SSO in its $250 Core.
  • In 24 AI answers to 'best AEO tools' and 'best AEO platforms' (13 September 2026), none mentioned Slack or Looker Studio, and 3 mentioned Search Console. The engines rank trackers, not team workflow.

How we evaluated

Four criteria. Nothing else counted.

Prefer is the best AEO software for a team that runs answer engine optimization as an ongoing program: five AI engines, Search Console, Google Analytics and the content work in one workspace, from $24/mo. We compared ten platforms on who can log in, how work is split and where data flows, from each vendor's dated pricing page.

01
Who can log in, and what that costs

Seats on the plan you would actually buy, not on the top tier. Some platforms include unlimited users from the entry plan; others include one seat and charge for each extra user, which changes the real price for a team of five.

02
How the work is split

Projects, brands or workspaces per plan, and the prompts and competitors each one carries. A team running two brands or two markets needs to know whether that is one subscription or two.

03
Where the data comes from and goes

Inputs such as Google Search Console and GA4, and outputs such as Slack alerts, Looker Studio, an API or an MCP server. If the numbers cannot reach the place your team reports, someone ends up pasting screenshots.

04
What sits behind a quote

Whether SSO, roles and the API are on a published plan or a custom one. We record the lowest plan where each vendor's own page lists a feature, with the date we read it.

Three kinds of platform

They are not all the same product.

Measure-first workspaces

Profound, Peec AI, Otterly, Scrunch

Built around a shared tracking workspace many people can read, with exports or an API higher up. Several add agents or content features, but the core seat is an analyst's.

Buy one if your team, or an agency, already does the content and off-page work.

Measure-and-act workspaces

Prefer, AthenaHQ, AirOps

Tracking and the content work in the same seat: drafts, publishing to a CMS, action lists, and in AirOps' case a human approval step. The people who read the numbers are the people who ship the fix.

Buy one if one team owns both the report and the result.

Modules in a suite you already pay for

HubSpot AEO, Semrush, Ahrefs Brand Radar

AEO tracking inside a CRM or SEO suite, so logins, billing and reports stay where the team already works. Prompt allowances and engines follow the suite's plans.

Buy one if fewer logins matter more than depth.

The ranked list

Every tool worth shortlisting.

Prefer first (our product, disclosed). Then standalone AEO platforms in our judgment of fit for a team running AEO as a program, then modules in suites you may already pay for.

01

Prefer

Strengths
ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode on every plan, with Search Console and Google Analytics connected from Starter
Unlimited team members on every plan; Growth adds API and MCP access, reports and multiple languages
AI articles every month on every plan, so the people reading the report can act in the same place
Limitations
No API or MCP on Starter; SSO, roles and Claude are on Enterprise
No Looker Studio connector in the plan list
VerdictPick it if one team owns both the report and the fix.
02

Profound

tryprofound.com
When IT decides Free trial, then Enterprise (custom)

Profound has the most complete governance package we found on a public pricing page: SSO/SAML, SOC 2, an API, exports and unlimited seats on Enterprise, with roles, directory sync and activity logs in its docs.

Strengths
Enterprise lists daily tracking on up to 9 answer engines, all-time history, CSV and JSON exports, API, SSO/SAML, SOC 2 compliance and unlimited seats (rendered 18 Sep 2026)
Docs cover roles and custom roles, SCIM directory sync, activity logs, a Tableau connector and CMS connections such as WordPress and Contentful
Limitations
No published brand price: a free Trial (50 prompts, run daily for 7 days, on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) or a custom Enterprise quote
The Trial has no history, exports or API, so a team cannot pilot its workflow before the sales call
VerdictA strong pick for a procurement-led team, if the budget conversation can happen on a demo call. Compare vs Prefer →
03

Peec AI

peec.ai
Unlimited users, budget From $95/mo

Peec AI gives every self-serve plan unlimited users and daily tracking, from $95 a month, with more projects and Looker Studio as you move up.

Strengths
Unlimited users and daily tracking on Starter ($95), Pro ($245) and Advanced ($495), rendered 16 and 19 Sep 2026
1, 2 and 5 projects by plan; Advanced adds multi-country tracking and Looker Studio; docs describe an API, an MCP server and SSO
Limitations
Each self-serve plan tracks 3 models; each extra model costs $30, $70 or $140 a month by plan
The pricing page lists the API and SSO on custom Enterprise
VerdictA low-cost way to put a large team on daily AEO data for 50 prompts, if 3 models are enough. Compare vs Prefer →
04

AthenaHQ

athenahq.ai
Integrations + free start Free, then $295/mo

AthenaHQ's docs connect it both ways: GA4 and Search Console in; Looker Studio, Slack reports and publishing to eight CMS platforms out. Its free plan has unlimited members.

Strengths
Unlimited members on the free Essential plan; unlimited seats with role-based access on Starter and Enterprise (rendered 6 Sep 2026)
Docs list GA4, Search Console, Google Ads, Looker Studio, scheduled Slack reports, an Enterprise Slack bot and publishing to Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Framer, WordPress, Payload, Sanity and Contentful
Limitations
The step from free to paid is $295 a month, and on Starter API access is a paid add-on with no published price (Enterprise lists it as included)
Credits are the meter (one credit per AI response), so big prompt sets need budgeting
VerdictA strong fit for a team that wants its AEO data in GA4, Looker Studio, Slack and the CMS, starting free. Compare vs Prefer →
05

AirOps

airops.com
Content workflows + approvals Starts free; paid prices not published

AirOps treats AEO as content operations: tracking sits beside workflows with human review and approvals, unlimited users on Pro, and publishing to your CMS.

Strengths
Human Review & Approvals, Playbooks & Workflows and MCP connectors listed on every tier; unlimited users on Pro and Enterprise (rendered 5 Sep 2026)
Publishes to WordPress, Webflow and Notion, connects Search Console and GA4, and reads AI crawler traffic from CDN logs
Limitations
No dollar prices anywhere on the pricing page
Solo is a single user with ChatGPT-only insights; SSO is Enterprise-only
VerdictThe pick for a content team with an editor in the loop, if you can get a quote. Compare vs Prefer →
06

Otterly

otterly.ai

Otterly is a low-cost daily tracker a whole team can use: unlimited team members from the $29 Lite plan, with API, MCP and Looker Studio from $189.

Strengths
Unlimited team members and daily tracking on every plan; Lite is $29 for 15 prompts (rendered 16 and 19 Sep 2026)
Standard ($189) adds unlimited workspaces, API and MCP access and a Looker Studio connector; Enterprise, from $1,000 a month, adds SSO
Limitations
Lite has 1 workspace and 15 prompts; Claude, Gemini and AI Mode are paid add-ons on every plan
Monitoring and recommendations; the work stays with your team
VerdictA low-cost daily tracker with unlimited members, with API and MCP on a published plan. Visit site →
07

Scrunch

scrunch.com
Enterprise multi-brand From $250/mo

Scrunch states its team terms plainly: 5 user licenses and Google SSO on the $250 Core plan, then API, MCP, Looker Studio and SAML or OIDC SSO on Enterprise.

Strengths
Core ($250): 125 prompts, 1 brand workspace, 5 user licenses, Google SSO and 5 site audits a month (rendered 5, 16 and 19 Sep 2026)
Enterprise adds 9 LLMs, custom workspaces and licenses, API access, MCP, Looker Studio, a Query API, a CLI and SAML/OIDC SSO
Limitations
Core tracks 4 LLMs (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Copilot); Claude and Gemini are Enterprise
One brand workspace on Core, so a second brand means an Enterprise conversation
VerdictStrong for multi-brand enterprise teams; the Core plan is a trial run for that setup. Compare vs Prefer →
08

HubSpot AEO

hubspot.com
Inside HubSpot CRM $50/mo ($45 annual), free trial

HubSpot AEO puts prompt tracking, citations and competitor share of voice inside the CRM your marketing team may already use, with recommendations that draw on CRM data on Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise.

Strengths
Named in all 24 answers to 'best AEO tools' and 'best AEO platforms' in our September 2026 study
Works without HubSpot's CMS; on Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise it uses your CRM data for more specific recommendations
Limitations
The product page lists three engines: ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity
$50 a month covers 25 prompts and one brand; CRM-informed recommendations need Marketing Hub Pro or Enterprise
VerdictA low-friction option for a HubSpot team. Check the engines before you commit. Visit site →
09

Semrush AI Visibility

semrush.com
SEO suite, per domain $99/mo per domain; Semrush One from $199/mo

Semrush sells AI visibility two ways: a standalone toolkit at $99 a month per domain for 25 prompts tracked daily, or Semrush One, SEO plus AI visibility, from $199 a month for 50 prompts.

Strengths
Standalone: 25 prompts tracked daily for $99 a month per domain, on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini by Semrush's own plan comparison (rendered 19 Sep 2026). Semrush One: $199, $299 or $549 for 50, 100 or 200 daily prompts (rendered 19 Sep 2026)
MCP access on Semrush One Starter; API data integration on Advanced; SSO, team governance and audit logs on Enterprise
Limitations

VerdictSensible for an SEO team already on Semrush, especially on Semrush One. Compare vs Prefer →
10

Ahrefs Brand Radar

ahrefs.com
SEO suite, cadence you set With Ahrefs plans from $129/mo

Ahrefs Brand Radar comes with every paid Ahrefs plan: tracked AI prompts that can run on any of seven platforms, with a cadence you set per platform. At entry that is one platform: Lite's 150 checks a month cover 5 prompts run daily on one platform.

Strengths
Seven platforms to choose from, Claude included, with cadence set per platform; on Lite, 150 checks a month cover 5 prompts daily on one platform (rendered 8 and 19 Sep 2026)
An AI Visibility Index of 455M+ monthly prompts for category research, at $199 a month per platform or $699 for all five (rendered 19 Sep 2026)
Limitations
Each plan includes one seat; extra users cost $40, $60 or $80 a month by plan
Lite includes 5 tracked AI prompts and 150 checks a month, enough for those 5 prompts daily on one platform; Claude uses 8 checks per update
VerdictGood value if the team is already on Ahrefs and the prompt set is small. Visit site →

What changed in 2026

Four shifts that reshaped the category.

This list looked different a year ago. These are the changes that moved it.

01
Profound stopped publishing a brand price

Its brands view showed Starter at $99 and Growth at $399 until at least 14 September 2026. By our rendered check on 23 September it showed a free Trial (50 prompts, run daily for 7 days, on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) and a custom Enterprise plan. Today the only $99 and $399 on the page are agency prices.

02
Semrush sells AI visibility two ways

A standalone AI Visibility toolkit at $99 a month per domain tracks 25 prompts daily (rendered 19 September 2026). Semrush One bundles SEO with AI visibility at $199, $299 or $549 a month for 50, 100 or 200 daily prompts (rendered 19 September 2026). A team picks between per-domain AI tracking and an SEO plan that includes it.

03
Scrunch put Claude and Gemini on Enterprise

Our August record showed seven AI surfaces on every Scrunch plan. On 5 September 2026 the $250 Core plan listed four LLMs (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Copilot), with Claude, Gemini and three more on custom Enterprise.

04
Peec added models to Enterprise only

Peec's Enterprise plan listed up to 11 models on 1 September 2026, 12 on 8 September and 13 on 16 September; on 19 September the card still said up to 13 while its model list named 14. The self-serve plans still let you choose 3 from a menu of six, with each extra model at $30 to $140 a month.

Red flags

Things to check before you sign.

Every tool here demos well. These are the questions that separate them once the trial ends.

One seat on the plan you can afford

Ask what five people cost, not one. Ahrefs includes one seat per plan and charges $40 to $80 a month for each extra user; Prefer includes unlimited team members from Starter.

SSO behind a sales call

Profound, Peec AI and Prefer all list SSO on custom Enterprise plans. If IT needs SSO on day one, you are in a procurement cycle, so start it early.

One brand per subscription

Semrush's standalone toolkit prices AI visibility per domain, Otterly's Lite plan has one workspace, and Peec's Starter has one project. Count your brands and markets before you compare entry prices.

Data that cannot leave the dashboard

Without exports, a Looker Studio connector or an API, reports turn into screenshots. Profound's free Trial, for example, lists no history, exports or API.

A trial that cannot test the workflow

A one-time or single-engine trial shows a score, not whether your team will use the software every week. Ask for a pilot on your real prompt set. It passes if every person who will use the software can log in on the plan you would buy, you can send one real report to where your team reads it (Looker Studio, Slack, a CSV or the API), and the prompts are yours, not a sample.

The basics

What is AEO software?

AEO software is the platform a team uses to run answer engine optimization as an ongoing program. It runs a fixed set of buyer questions through AI engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews on a schedule, records whether your brand is named and which sources are cited, and shares the results with the people who act on them.

What separates it from a one-off checker is the team layer: seats and roles, projects per brand or market, and connections to the places a team already works, such as Search Console, GA4, Slack, Looker Studio or an API. The terms below are how this page uses them.

Glossary10 terms
Prompt set
The fixed list of buyer questions the software runs for you. Every number downstream depends on it matching what your buyers actually ask.
Project or workspace
One tracked brand, site or market with its own prompts and competitors. Plans cap how many you get.
Seat
One named login. On this page, entry plans run from one seat (Ahrefs, which charges $40 to $80 per extra user) through 5 licenses (Scrunch Core) to unlimited (Prefer, Otterly, Peec AI).
Role-based access
Permissions by role, such as admin, editor or viewer, so a wide team can read results without changing the setup. Often shortened to RBAC.
SSO
Single sign-on through your company's identity provider, using SAML or OIDC. On this page, Scrunch includes Google SSO on its $250 Core; every other vendor we checked lists SSO on Enterprise.
Credits or checks
A usage meter some platforms charge against, such as one AI response per credit. It turns prompts and engines into one budget.
Looker Studio connector
A link that pulls the platform's data into Google's Looker Studio dashboards, so AEO numbers sit beside the rest of your reporting.
API
A way for your own systems to pull the data, for a warehouse or a custom dashboard. On this page, Prefer includes one from Growth and Otterly publishes one at $189; Profound and Peec AI list it on Enterprise; AthenaHQ sells it as an add-on on Starter and includes it on Enterprise.
MCP server
A connector that lets AI assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude query the platform's data directly.
White-label report
A report an agency sends under its own brand. Common on agency plans, rare on brand plans.

AEO software is what a team buys when answer engine optimization stops being a one-off check and becomes a program: a shared prompt set, several people reading it, reports going somewhere, and someone acting on them. This page compares ten AEO platforms on that job: seats, projects, integrations, API and SSO. Prefer ranks first for a team that reads the numbers and ships the fixes, from $24 a month. For the same vendors ranked on tracking depth and on the work that wins citations, read our best AEO tools list.

What we did, and did not do. We read each vendor’s pricing page in a rendered browser between 5 and 19 September 2026 (the date sits on every entry), read public docs for integrations, and counted what four AI engines said in our September 2026 AI answer study. We have not used the rival tools ourselves. Prefer is our product and sits first, the same move HubSpot makes on its own “best AEO software” page, which ranks HubSpot AEO first. The difference we offer is the disclosure, the dates, and a line in every rival entry saying where it beats Prefer.

AI engines rank AEO software on tracking, not on how a team uses it#

On 13 September 2026 we asked ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity two questions through their APIs, with web search on, three times each: “What are the best AEO tools?” and “Best AEO (answer engine optimization) platforms”. That is 24 answers. We then read every answer for the features a team lives with.

None of the 24 answers mentioned Slack or Looker Studio. Three mentioned Google Search Console, and four said anything about how often a tool runs (one “daily”, three “real-time”). What the answers did raise was white-label reports (12 of 24), SOC 2 compliance (7), seat or user limits (3), an API (3), roles or permissions (3) and SSO (2).

So the engines answer as if the buyer were an agency or a procurement team. The in-house team that will open the software every week gets almost nothing about seats, reporting or cadence. That gap is why this page exists.

Bar chart of how many of 24 AI answers about AEO software mentioned each team feature. Raised in the answers: white-label reports 12, SOC 2 compliance 7, seat or user limits 3, an API 3, roles or permissions 3, SSO 2. What a team works with every week: how often the tool runs 4, Google Search Console 3, Google Analytics (GA4) 2, Slack 0, Looker Studio 0. A column shows which engines mentioned each feature: white-label reports by Claude, Gemini and Perplexity; SOC 2 by Claude and Gemini; seat limits and an API by ChatGPT and Claude; roles by ChatGPT and Gemini; SSO by Gemini only; how often the tool runs by Claude, Gemini and Perplexity; Search Console and GA4 by ChatGPT only; Slack and Looker Studio by none.

The word “platform” changes the shortlist#

HubSpot AEO and Profound were named in all 12 answers to both questions. Beyond those two, the lists moved with the wording. AthenaHQ went from 2 of 12 “tools” answers to 8 of 12 “platforms” answers, Conductor from 2 to 7, and Peec AI from 6 to 11. LLM Pulse went from 6 to 0, and Geoptie from 9 to 4.

Two runs of the same question shared, on average, 63% of the tools named across both. A “tools” answer and a “platforms” answer from the same engine shared 41%. The word you use moves the list more than asking again does. One Claude answer to the platforms question said that for enterprise-scale needs, Profound or Conductor are the most frequently recommended. If you build a shortlist by asking an assistant, ask both ways and ask twice; our note on whether AI answers change when asked twice has the full repeat data.

The first table is what a team gets on each platform’s entry plan. The second is the lowest plan where each vendor’s own page or docs list an integration. “Not checked” means our dated notes do not cover it, not that the feature is missing. Prices in US dollars unless marked.

What a team of five pays#

A worked example, because seats change the price more than the sticker suggests. This is the cheapest plan on each platform that lets five people log in, plus AthenaHQ’s first paid plan, with what each tracks, as checked in September 2026:

  • AthenaHQ Essential: free. 300 credits on 5 engines, unlimited members.
  • Prefer Starter: $24/mo. 30 prompts per model on all 5 engines, unlimited team members.
  • Otterly Lite: $29/mo. 15 prompts on 4 engines, unlimited team members.
  • LLM Pulse Starter: €49/mo. 50 prompts on 5 models, unlimited team members.
  • Peec AI Starter: $95/mo. 50 prompts on 3 models, unlimited users.
  • Scrunch Core: $250/mo. 125 prompts on 4 LLMs, 5 user licenses.
  • Ahrefs Lite plus four extra users: $289/mo ($129 plus 4 x $40). 5 tracked prompts; its 150 checks a month cover those 5 prompts daily on one platform.
  • AthenaHQ Starter, its first paid plan: $295/mo ($245 billed annually). 3,600 credits on 11 models, unlimited seats. You do not need it to seat five; the free plan already does.

Prefer seats a whole team from its $24 Starter plan, because every Prefer plan includes unlimited team members. Only AthenaHQ’s free plan seats five for less. What Starter buys at its price is 30 prompts per model on all five engines, 1 project and 15 AI articles a month. Profound (Enterprise quote only), AirOps (no published prices) and Semrush and HubSpot AEO (seat terms not verified) are left out. For full price ladders, see our AI visibility tool pricing index, and for the category-wide answer, how much AI visibility tools cost.

The ten platforms, and what each does for a team#

1. Prefer: best for a team that reads the numbers and ships the fixes#

Prefer is our product, so weigh this entry accordingly. Every plan tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, and connects Search Console and Google Analytics. Team members are unlimited on every plan, and projects grow by plan: Starter at $24/mo is 1 project; Growth at $129/mo is 3 projects, with API and MCP access, reports and multiple languages; Scale at $399/mo is 10 projects, with white-labelled reports and a dedicated success manager. Every plan includes AI articles each month (15, 75 and 225), so the team that reads the report can act in the same place. Enterprise adds SSO and roles, warehouse sync, and every other AI model you need, such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Meta AI, DeepSeek and Qwen. Agencies get a separate track: $99/mo plus $299/mo per active client, with unlimited team seats and white-label reports. The trial runs 7 days with no card, and if nobody on your team has the hours, Prefer Managed does the work for you.

Where it falls short: no API or MCP on Starter, no Looker Studio connector in the plan list, and SSO and Claude only on Enterprise.

2. Profound: best when security review and IT decide#

Profound’s Enterprise plan is the most complete governance package we found on a public pricing page: daily tracking on up to 9 answer engines, all-time history, CSV and JSON exports, an API, SSO/SAML, SOC 2 compliance and unlimited seats (rendered 18 September 2026). Its docs add roles and custom roles, SCIM directory sync, activity logs, a Tableau connector for its API, and CMS connections including WordPress, Contentful and Adobe Experience Manager (docs index read 19 September 2026). The catch for a team is the route in: no published brand price, and a free Trial of 50 prompts, run daily for 7 days, on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, with no history, exports or API. See how much Profound costs.

Where it beats Prefer: security and identity controls you can hand to IT, and Claude among its tracked engines.

3. Peec AI: best for many users on a small budget#

Every self-serve Peec plan includes unlimited users and daily tracking: Starter at $95 (50 prompts, 1 project), Pro at $245 (150 prompts, 2 projects) and Advanced at $495 (350 prompts, 5 projects, multi-country, Looker Studio). Each plan tracks 3 models you choose, and extra models cost $30, $70 or $140 a month by plan. Enterprise adds up to 13 models, unlimited projects, the API and SSO (rendered 16 and 19 September 2026); Peec’s docs also describe an MCP server. See how much Peec AI costs.

Where it beats Prefer: a Looker Studio connector on its Advanced plan, and multi-country tracking listed as a plan feature.

4. AthenaHQ: best for integrations, with a free start#

AthenaHQ’s docs cover both directions: GA4, Search Console and Google Ads in; Looker Studio, scheduled PDF reports to Slack and, on Enterprise, a Slack bot out; and publishing to Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Framer, WordPress, Payload, Sanity and Contentful (read 19 September 2026). The free Essential plan lists unlimited members, and the $295 Starter and Enterprise list unlimited seats with role-based access (rendered 6 September 2026). Starter covers 11 models on 3,600 credits (rendered 16 and 19 September 2026); API access is a paid add-on there with no published price, and the Enterprise plan lists it as included.

Where it beats Prefer: a free plan the whole team can join, a Looker Studio connector, and Claude on a self-serve plan.

5. AirOps: best for content teams that need approvals#

AirOps treats AEO as content operations. Its pricing page lists Human Review & Approvals, Playbooks & Workflows and MCP connectors on every tier, unlimited users on Pro and Enterprise, and SSO on Enterprise (rendered 5 September 2026). It publishes to WordPress, Webflow and Notion, and connects Search Console and GA4. Solo is a single user with ChatGPT-only insights; Pro covers 7+ answer engines. No dollar prices appear on the page.

Where it beats Prefer: an approval step between draft and publish, and a deeper content workflow engine; our AirOps review rated its execution layer the deepest in the set we reviewed.

6. Otterly: best for a daily tracker the whole team can use#

Otterly’s Lite plan is $29 a month for 15 prompts, 1 workspace, unlimited team members and daily tracking (rendered 16 and 19 September 2026). Standard at $189 adds unlimited workspaces, API and MCP access and a Looker Studio connector; Enterprise, from $1,000 a month, adds SSO. Every plan tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, with Claude, Gemini and AI Mode as paid add-ons.

Where it beats Prefer: unlimited members from $29, and a Looker Studio connector on its published $189 plan.

7. Scrunch: best for enterprise teams running several brands#

Scrunch’s $250 Core plan states the team terms plainly: 125 prompts, 1 brand workspace, 5 user licenses, Google SSO and 5 site audits a month, on four LLMs (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Copilot). Enterprise adds nine LLMs, custom workspaces and licenses, API access, MCP, Looker Studio, a Query API, a CLI and SAML or OIDC SSO (rendered 5, 16 and 19 September 2026). Its agent-traffic analytics read AI crawler hits from your CDN logs.

Where it beats Prefer: SSO on a published plan, and enterprise multi-brand workspaces with API, MCP and a CLI.

8. HubSpot AEO: best for teams that already run marketing in HubSpot#

HubSpot AEO tracks prompts, citations, sentiment and competitor share of voice on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, with prioritized recommendations. The product page labels it beta and prices it at $50 a month, or $45 a month billed annually, for 25 prompts, with a free trial on the same 25 prompts and no card; each extra brand is another $50 plan (rendered 19 September 2026). It works without HubSpot’s CMS, and on Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise it uses your CRM data for more specific recommendations. Extra prompts can be bought at any time; the page does not show their price. See HubSpot AEO alternatives.

Where it beats Prefer: it lives in the CRM, beside your contacts, campaigns and content.

9. Semrush AI Visibility: best for SEO teams that live in Semrush#

Semrush sells AI visibility two ways. The standalone toolkit is $99 a month per domain, for 25 prompts tracked daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini by Semrush’s own plan comparison (rendered 19 September 2026), and each extra domain is another $99 subscription, per its FAQ (rendered 6 September 2026). Semrush One bundles SEO with AI visibility: Starter at $199 (50 prompts daily, MCP access), Pro+ at $299 (100) and Advanced at $549 (200, API data integration); Enterprise lists SSO, team governance and audit logs (rendered 19 September 2026). It sits beside Site Audit, Position Tracking and My Reports, so the SEO team keeps one login and one report builder. Semrush’s own knowledge base (read August 2026) describes checking a fix as a manual incognito-browser test. We did not verify its seat terms for the AI toolkit.

Where it beats Prefer: one vendor for SEO and AI visibility.

10. Ahrefs Brand Radar: best for SEO teams that live in Ahrefs#

Brand Radar comes with every paid Ahrefs plan: tracked AI prompts that can run on any of seven platforms, Claude included, with a cadence you can set per platform to budget checks. At entry that means one platform: Lite at $129 includes 5 tracked prompts and 150 checks a month, which covers those 5 prompts daily on one platform; Claude uses 8 checks per update. Each plan includes one seat, and extra users cost $40, $60 or $80 a month by plan (rendered 8 September 2026). The AI Visibility Index, 455M+ monthly prompts for category research, is $199 a month per platform or $699 for all five (rendered 19 September 2026).

Where it beats Prefer: Claude among its tracked platforms, and the prompt index.

Where Prefer is not the right pick#

  • IT needs SSO or a SOC 2 report before anyone logs in. Prefer’s SSO and roles are on Enterprise. Profound’s pricing page lists SSO/SAML and SOC 2 compliance.
  • Your reporting lives in Looker Studio. Prefer’s plan list has no Looker Studio connector; Otterly, Peec AI and AthenaHQ publish one.
  • You need Claude below an enterprise contract. Prefer tracks Claude on Enterprise only. AthenaHQ lists it on its $295 Starter.
  • Everyone needs a login on the cheapest plan. Prefer, Otterly and Peec AI include unlimited users from their entry plans.
  • Your marketing runs in HubSpot. HubSpot AEO keeps the data in the CRM.
  • You want a vendor with years of enterprise references. Prefer was founded in 2025.

Agencies run a different stack#

When we asked the same four engines what an agency should use to offer AEO to clients, 11 of 12 answers talked about client reporting or managing several clients, and 4 named Looker Studio. Agency plans are priced differently from brand plans: Prefer’s agency track is $99/mo plus $299/mo per active client, Peec’s agency plans run $245 to $795 a month on credits, and Profound’s Agency Growth is $99 a month plus $399 per client workspace (rendered 16 and 18 September 2026). The agency view covers Prefer’s white-label reports and pitch audits.

The short version#

For a team that reads the numbers and ships the fixes, start with the free Prefer audit or compare Prefer’s plans. If IT decides, shortlist Profound. If many people need access on a small budget, shortlist Peec AI or Otterly. If you live in HubSpot, Semrush or Ahrefs, try their module first. And if a “best AEO software” list, this one included, ranks its own publisher first, check who wrote it: our note on whether you can trust AI tool ranking sites explains how. The wider category is covered in the best AI visibility tools roundup.

The questions buyers ask next.

AEO software runs your buyers' questions through AI engines on a schedule, records whether your brand is named and which sources are cited, and shares that with the team that acts on it. Prefer is AEO software of this kind: it runs your prompts on five AI engines and connects Search Console and Google Analytics. The team layer, meaning seats, projects and integrations, is what separates AEO software from a one-off checker.

Prefer connects Search Console and Google Analytics from its Starter plan. AthenaHQ's docs list GA4 and Search Console connections, AirOps lists both, and Profound's docs list a GA4 extension for its agent analytics. Check the plan, since some connections sit on higher tiers.

Prefer lists API and MCP access from its Growth plan, and Otterly from its $189 Standard plan. Profound and Peec AI list an API on custom Enterprise plans, and Scrunch lists API access, a Query API and a CLI on Enterprise. AthenaHQ sells API access as a paid add-on on Starter and lists it as included on Enterprise. Semrush lists MCP access on Semrush One Starter ($199) and API data integration on Advanced ($549).

Start with the 10 to 50 questions your buyers actually ask, then grow toward 150 or more as you add competitors, engines and markets. Prefer Growth tracks 150 prompts on five engines; entry plans on this list run from 5 tracked prompts (Ahrefs Lite) to 125 (Scrunch Core).

Questions

Asked plainly.

What is the best AEO software for a marketing team in 2026?

Prefer is our pick for a marketing team that runs AEO as an ongoing program and wants tracking on five AI engines, Search Console and Google Analytics, unlimited team members and the content work in one workspace, from $24 a month (Slack arrives on Growth, $129). It is our product, so weigh that. Profound is the stronger pick when IT decides, with SSO/SAML, SOC 2, an API and unlimited seats on Enterprise. Peec AI is the pick for many users on a budget: unlimited users and daily tracking from $95/mo.

How much does AEO software cost for a team of five?

Prefer Starter seats a team of five, or any size, at $24 a month, because every Prefer plan includes unlimited team members; it tracks 30 prompts per model on five engines and drafts 15 AI articles a month. Only AthenaHQ's free plan seats five for less. The cheapest plan that seats five on each other platform, as checked in September 2026: AthenaHQ's free Essential plan (300 credits), Otterly Lite at $29 (15 prompts), LLM Pulse Starter at €49 (50 prompts), Peec AI Starter at $95 (50 prompts on 3 models), Scrunch Core at $250 (125 prompts, 5 licenses) and Ahrefs Lite plus four extra users at $289 (5 prompts, daily on one platform). AthenaHQ's first paid plan, Starter, is $295 (3,600 credits, 11 models), but its free plan already seats five. Profound quotes Enterprise only, AirOps publishes no prices, and we could not verify seat terms for Semrush or HubSpot AEO.

Which AEO software has unlimited seats?

Prefer does: every Prefer plan includes unlimited team members, from Starter at $24 a month. On the pages we read in September 2026, these do too: Peec AI (every self-serve plan), Otterly (from the $29 Lite plan), AthenaHQ (unlimited members on the free plan, unlimited seats with role-based access on Starter), Profound (Trial and Enterprise) and LLM Pulse (every plan). AirOps lists unlimited users from its Pro plan. Scrunch's Core names 5 licenses and Ahrefs includes 1 seat per plan.

Which AEO platforms offer SSO?

Scrunch includes Google SSO on its $250 Core plan and SAML or OIDC on Enterprise. Profound, Peec AI, Otterly, AthenaHQ, AirOps, Semrush and Prefer list SSO on Enterprise plans; Semrush's adds team governance and audit logs. Profound's pricing page also lists SOC 2 compliance, and its docs cover SCIM directory sync, custom roles and activity logs.

Is this list different from Prefer's best AEO tools list?

Yes. Prefer publishes both lists, and each answers a different question. The best AEO tools list ranks platforms on tracking depth and on the work that wins citations. This page compares AEO software on how a team runs it: seats, projects, integrations, API and SSO. They share vendors on purpose, so read both if you are building a shortlist.

Does Prefer track Claude?

On Enterprise. Every paid Prefer plan tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode; Prefer Enterprise adds every other AI model you need, such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Meta AI, DeepSeek and Qwen. If you need Claude below an enterprise contract, AthenaHQ lists it on its $295 Starter plan and Ahrefs Brand Radar lists it among the seven platforms its tracked prompts can use, though Lite's 150 checks a month cover 5 prompts daily on one platform and a Claude update costs 8 checks.

How to choose

Answer a few questions and the shortlist writes itself.

01
How many people need to log in?

Prefer includes unlimited team members on every plan, Starter included. One or two people: most entry plans work. Five or more: check seats first. Otterly, Peec AI, AthenaHQ and Profound also list unlimited users; Scrunch's Core names 5 licenses; Ahrefs charges per extra user.

02
Does IT require SSO or a security review?

Then you are buying an Enterprise plan whichever vendor you choose. Profound's page lists SSO/SAML and SOC 2; Scrunch includes Google SSO at $250 and SAML on Enterprise; Peec AI and Prefer list SSO on Enterprise.

03
Where does your team report?

If it is Looker Studio, Otterly (from $189), Peec AI (Advanced) and AthenaHQ publish connectors. If it is Slack, Prefer (from Growth) and AthenaHQ (scheduled reports) send there. If it is HubSpot, HubSpot AEO keeps it in the CRM.

04
Who does the work after the report?

If an agency or an in-house content team already ships the fixes, a measure-first workspace is enough. If the same people read the numbers and write the pages, pick Prefer, AthenaHQ or AirOps, where the drafting sits in the same seat.
