The 11 Best AI Overview Trackers in 2026, Compared
Prefer tracks Google AI Overviews and AI Mode on every plan from $24/mo. 11 AI Overview trackers compared, keyword-level and prompt-level, with prices.
Prefer is the best AI Overview tracker in 2026 for teams that want Google AI Overviews and AI Mode tracked on every plan, the cited URLs shown, and the content written in one place, from $24 a month. SE Ranking is the best choice if you want keyword-level tracking too: which of your keywords trigger an AI Overview and where your site ranks inside it. LLMrefs is the value pick for volume, 500 prompts for $79 a month, and Otterly is the cheapest way to start at $29.

DisclosurePrefer publishes this list, and Prefer is on it. Every competitor entry is written from that vendor's public pages, carries a checked-on date, and names what it does better than us. Three of the eleven (LLMrefs, Nightwatch and ZipTie) were read in raw HTML rather than a rendered browser; their entries say what we could not read.
In short
The takeaways, up front.
AI Overview tracking is two different measurements: keyword-level (does an AI Overview appear for this keyword, and is my URL in it) and prompt-level (what does the answer say, and which pages did it cite). Most tools do one; SE Ranking does both.
Prefer (our product, disclosed) is our pick for teams that want Google AI Overviews and AI Mode tracked on every plan and the content work done, from $24/mo.
AI Mode is the gate to check: Otterly sells it as an add-on, AthenaHQ starts it at $295/mo, Peec makes it spend a model slot, and Nightwatch names it only in its pricing table.
Price per prompt spreads from under $0.20 (LLMrefs, 500 prompts for $79) to over $25 (Ahrefs Lite, 5 prompts on a $129 suite plan); count the prompts before you compare the sticker.
In Prefer's September 2026 capture of 80 questions, only 32% of the pages AI Mode cited also appeared in the AI Overview, so a tracker that covers one Google surface is measuring less than half of the picture.
How we evaluated
Four criteria. Nothing else counted.
Prefer is the pick if you want Google AI Overviews and AI Mode tracked, with the cited URLs shown and the content written, from $24/mo. AI Overview trackers come in two kinds: rank trackers that flag which keywords trigger an AI Overview (SE Ranking, AccuRanker) and answer trackers that store the answer and its sources. LLMrefs is $79/mo for 500 prompts; Otterly starts at $29/mo.
01
Which measurement you are buying
Keyword-level tracking tells you an AI Overview appeared for a keyword and whether your URL is in it. Prompt-level tracking tells you what the answer said and which pages it was built from. They answer different questions, and a tool that does one is not a worse version of a tool that does the other. Decide which question you have before you compare prices.
02
AI Mode on the plan you will buy
Google's two AI surfaces cite different pages, and AI Mode is the one vendors gate. Check whether it is included at your tier, sold as an add-on, or only named in a pricing table.
03
Cited URLs, not a presence flag
An AI Overview is built from a handful of pages. A tracker that shows you those URLs tells you what to influence next; one that only says an AI Overview was present tells you to worry.
04
Price per prompt, not the sticker
Allowances range from 5 prompts to 500 at similar prices. Divide the entry price by the prompts it includes, and check whether the count is daily, weekly or monthly.

How each number is set
AI Overviews coverage: keyword-level (which keywords trigger an AI Overview and whether your URL is cited in it) and prompt-level (the answer and its cited URLs) on the entry plan = 5; prompt-level with cited URLs on the entry plan = 4; prompt-level, but AI Overviews spends one of a limited number of model slots = 3; flagged as a SERP feature with no AIO-specific analytics documented = 2; only on a higher tier, a trial or an add-on = 1.
AI Mode coverage: included on the entry plan at no extra charge = 5; on the entry plan but takes one of a limited number of model slots = 4; a paid add-on, a higher tier, or named on the pricing page without a feature description = 3; not documented = 1.
Prompt-level data: you write the prompts and get history per prompt = 5; prompts generated from your keywords, reported per keyword = 4; a fixed or recommended prompt set = 3; SERP presence only = 1.
Shows cited sources: the URLs behind each answer (a yes under Shows cited URLs in the capability table) = 5; domains, counts or your own cited pages only (part) = 3; presence only = 1.
Price per prompt: entry price divided by the prompts that tier includes, per month. Under $1.00 = 5, $1.00 to $1.99 = 4, $2.00 to $2.99 = 3, $3.00 or more = 2, no published brand price = 1.
Scored 26 September 2026 from the facts on this page: the capability table, the plan and prompt counts stated in each entry, and the dated vendor reads listed under Sources (SE Ranking and AccuLLM rendered on 26 September; Otterly 23 September; Semrush, Ahrefs, Peec AI and AthenaHQ between 16 and 19 September; LLMrefs, Nightwatch and ZipTie read in raw HTML on 26 September). Two tools are not scored. ZipTie prices by prompt slot and engine behind a configurator we could not read, so its price per prompt cannot be placed on the scale. AthenaHQ meters its plans in credits (one credit is one AI response), not tracked prompts, so neither its prompt-level data nor its price per prompt fits the scale. Both stay in the list on their documented strengths. Nightwatch prices in euros; we apply the dollar bands to the euro figure without converting. Prefer's row uses the same rules as every other row.
Three kinds of tracker
They are not all the same product.
Rank trackers with an AIO feature
SE Ranking, AccuRanker, Nightwatch
Track AI Overviews as a SERP feature on the keywords you already rank for: did one appear, and is your URL cited in it. The best ones add trigger share and history. Cheap per keyword, and blind to anything Google says outside a results page.
Buy one if your SEO keyword list is the unit you manage and you want AI Overviews reported beside rankings.
Run prompts you choose (or, for LLMrefs, prompts generated from your keywords), store the answer and the URLs it cites, and repeat on a schedule across AI Overviews, AI Mode and the chat engines. Prefer adds the content work that changes the answer.
Buy one if the question is what Google's AI says about you and whose pages it trusts, not whether a box appeared.
SEO suites with an AI layer
Semrush, Ahrefs
Add prompt tracking across AI Overviews and AI Mode to a suite you may already pay for. Convenient, with small prompt allowances at entry and the deeper data priced separately.
Buy one if the suite is already on the invoice and a modest prompt count is enough.
The ranked list
Every tool worth shortlisting.
Prefer first (our product, disclosed); then by overall score, ties alphabetical; the two unscored tools last, alphabetical.
01
Prefer
tryprefer.com
Track + actFrom $24/mo, free trial
Prefer tracks your buyer prompts in Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, shows the URLs each answer was built from, and writes the content that wins the citation.
Strengths
Google AI Overviews and AI Mode on every plan, alongside ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, with no per-engine add-ons
Prompt-level answers with the cited URLs behind each one and share of voice against named competitors
Writes 15 AI articles a month on the entry plan, so a lost AI Overview turns into a page, not a report
Limitations
Prompt-level only: it does not report which of your Google keywords trigger an AI Overview or where your URL sits inside it
02
SE Ranking
seranking.com
Rank tracker + AIFrom $129/mo, 14-day free trial
SE Ranking tracks AI Overviews two ways: which of your keywords trigger one and where you rank inside it, plus prompt-level answers across AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.
Strengths
Keyword-level AI Overviews Tracker: share of keywords triggering an AI Overview, historical AIO data, and where your site ranks inside it (seranking.com, 26 Sep 2026)
AI Mode tracker finds the domains and URLs Google pulls into AI Mode responses, grouped by source type
Core plan is $129/mo with 100 prompts tracked daily and five engines; the trial is free for 14 days with no card
Limitations
More prompts means the AI Search add-on: $89/mo for 200 prompts (the add-on card names four engines and leaves out Gemini)
Core keeps six months of history; all-time history starts on Growth at $279/mo
03
Ahrefs Brand Radar
ahrefs.com
SEO suite + AIWith paid Ahrefs plans from $129/mo
Ahrefs Brand Radar tracks AI Overviews and AI Mode among seven AI surfaces, backed by a 459M-prompt index in which AI Overviews alone account for 307.4M prompts.
Strengths
Seven surfaces for tracked prompts (AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude) with stored responses and cited pages
The AI Visibility Index publishes per-engine prompt volumes: 307.4M for AI Overviews and 26.5M for AI Mode (ahrefs.com, 8 Sep 2026)
Limitations
Custom prompts are metered: 5 prompts and 150 checks a month on the $129 Lite plan, 10 on Standard, 20 on Advanced
The Index is priced separately, $199/mo per platform or $699/mo for all (checked 19 Sep 2026)
04
LLMrefs
llmrefs.com
Keyword-first tracking$79/mo, 7-day free trial
LLMrefs turns your SEO keywords into fan-out prompts and runs them daily across ten engines, including Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, for a flat $79 a month.
Strengths
One plan tracks 500 prompts across ten engines, with unlimited projects and team members, CSV export and API access (llmrefs.com, 26 Sep 2026)
Statistical sampling: results are aggregated across multiple prompt runs per keyword, and top cited domains are reported
Limitations
You track keywords, not prompts you write, so the questions your sales team hears cannot be added verbatim
No AI Overview SERP tracking (trigger share, owned position); the $79 price is marked limited time only
05
Otterly
otterly.ai
Budget daily trackingFrom $29/mo, free trial
Otterly is the cheapest way to start tracking Google AI Overviews at prompt level: $29 a month for 15 prompts across AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Copilot.
Strengths
AI Overviews on every plan, including the $29 Lite tier, with daily tracking and the sources behind each answer
Every price published: Lite $29 (15 prompts), Standard $189 (100 prompts, API and MCP), Premium $489 (400 prompts), checked 23 Sep 2026
Limitations
AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are paid add-ons on every tier, from $9 to $439 a month
15 prompts is a small window on your market, and Otterly measures without doing any of the work
06
Peec AI
peec.ai
Budget monitoringFrom $95/mo
Peec AI puts both Google surfaces on its self-serve model menu, so a $95 Starter can track AI Overviews and AI Mode if you spend two of your three model slots on them.
Strengths
Self-serve menu on 19 Sep 2026: ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Naver AI and Gemini; Starter is $95/mo for 50 prompts
Clean prompt-level analytics with the domains behind each answer and query fan-out decomposition
Limitations
Each plan includes three models of your choice; a fourth costs $30 to $140 a month depending on tier
Perplexity and Claude moved to Enterprise on the 19 Sep 2026 menu; monitoring only, no execution
07
AccuRanker
accuranker.com
Rank tracker + AccuLLMAccuLLM from $206/mo; rank tracker from $224/mo
AccuRanker tracks AI Overviews as one of 45+ SERP features in its rank tracker, and its separate AccuLLM product tracks prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and AI Mode.
Strengths
Rank tracker shows how many of your keywords trigger an AI Overview, how many URLs contribute, whether yours is one, and lets you export the AIOs (accuranker.com, 26 Sep 2026)
AccuLLM Lite is $206/mo for 100 prompts, daily, with all-time history; one prompt is tracked across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and AI Mode (rendered 26 Sep 2026)
Limitations
Keyword-level and prompt-level tracking are separate subscriptions: AccuLLM from $206 and the rank tracker from $224 a month
AccuLLM reports how often LLMs cite your domain and your top pages; a full source list per answer is not documented, and Gemini and Claude are not named
08
Semrush AI Visibility toolkit
semrush.com
SEO suite + AI$99/mo per domain; Semrush One from $199/mo
Semrush's AI Visibility toolkit tracks prompts across five engines, including Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, for $99 a month per domain, or bundled into Semrush One from $199.
Strengths
Five engines on Semrush's plan comparison for the toolkit: ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini (checked 19 Sep 2026)
Semrush One Starter ($199/mo) bundles 50 prompts tracked daily with 500 keywords and the SEO suite
Limitations
The standalone toolkit tracks 25 prompts a day per $99 domain, the smallest allowance among the paid tools here
Copilot, Grok, Claude and DeepSeek are Enterprise-only; source data is partial next to the dedicated trackers
Nightwatch is a rank tracker that bundles daily AI prompt tracking into every plan, with AI Overviews handled as a SERP feature rather than a dedicated report.
Strengths
Starter is €99/mo list (€79 billed yearly) for 500 keywords and 50 AI prompts tracked daily, unlimited seats, no add-ons (nightwatch.io, 26 Sep 2026)
Full daily snapshot archive with raw HTML on demand, and Citation Intelligence links AI citations back to Google rankings
Limitations
AI Overviews appears as a SERP feature and a pricing-table row; trigger share, AIO source lists and AIO history are not documented, and the AI tracking page names five LLMs without the Google surfaces
Prices are in euros, and we read them during a 30% promotion; the list prices are quoted here
10
AthenaHQ
athenahq.ai
Free tier + actionFree, then $295/mo
AthenaHQ is the best free way to start tracking AI Overviews: its Essential plan is free with 300 credits across five models, AI Overviews among them.
Strengths
Free Essential tier covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot with 300 credits
Starter ($295/mo) adds AI Mode and six more models, on-page and off-page actions, and GA4 and Search Console integration (19 Sep 2026)
Limitations
Plans are metered in credits (one credit is one AI response), not tracked prompts, so the cost per prompt depends on cadence and model count
AI Mode is only on the $295 Starter tier and above
11
ZipTie
ziptie.ai
Both AI OverviewsFrom $42.75/mo preset, 7-day free trial
ZipTie tracks Google AI Overviews and Bing AI Overview as their own engines, captures the organic top 10 beside each check, and prices by prompt slot and engine.
Strengths
Seven engines including Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Bing AI Overview; AI Overview checks also capture the top-10 organic results at no extra cost (ziptie.ai, 26 Sep 2026)
Stores the full answer per prompt, shows which Reddit threads, review sites and articles are cited; API and MCP access for $10/mo
Limitations
The Starter preset says from $42.75/mo, but the prompt count and engine mix behind it sit in a JavaScript configurator we could not read; each engine is a line item
The 7-day trial runs 25 prompts on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity only; AI Mode, Bing AI Overview, Gemini and Copilot are available on paid plans only
Side by side
The whole field, one table.
Capability at the checked-on date. Part means the surface is on a higher tier, an add-on or a limited model slot, or the tool does something adjacent (a SERP-feature flag without AIO analytics, or the organic top 10 captured beside each check). No means we did not see it documented on the pages we read, not that the vendor lacks it. Keyword-level = reports which of your Google keywords trigger an AI Overview; prompt-level = stores the answer to a question you run.

What changed in 2026
Four shifts that reshaped the category.
This list looked different a year ago. These are the changes that moved it.
01
AI Overviews became a SERP feature every rank tracker flags
By 2026 the major rank trackers list AI Overviews beside featured snippets and local packs. A presence flag stopped being a differentiator; the tools that pulled ahead added trigger share, history and the URLs inside the box.
02
AI Mode split the category in two
AI Mode has no results page to rank in, so keyword-level trackers cannot see it. Every tool that covers it does so by running prompts. That is why a keyword-level tracker and an answer tracker are now two purchases for many SEO teams, or one tool that does both.
03
Google started joining the two surfaces
A follow-up from an AI Overview now continues in AI Mode, and Google announced in May 2026 that it was bringing the two into one AI Search experience. The sources still differ, so tracking one and assuming the other is a growing mistake.
04
Prompt allowances replaced engine lists as the price lever
Most tools here name the same Google surfaces on the hero. What separates a $29 plan from a $206 plan is how many prompts you can run, how often, and whether AI Mode costs extra.
Red flags
Things to check before you sign.
Every tool here demos well. These are the questions that separate them once the trial ends.
A presence flag without the URLs
If a tool tells you an AI Overview appeared for your keyword but not which pages it was built from, you know you lost and nothing about why. Ask to open one AI Overview and see its cited URLs before you trust the chart.
AI Mode in the pricing table only
If AI Mode appears as a row on the pricing page and nowhere in the product pages or docs, ask what is actually recorded. A name in a table is not a feature description.
Credit meters
Credits per AI response make the real cost depend on cadence and model count. Ask what one week of daily tracking on your prompt set costs in credits, then compare that to a flat prompt allowance.
Prompts you cannot write
Generated prompt sets are a fine start. If you cannot add the exact question your sales team hears, the tool is tracking a market that is not quite yours.
One Google surface sold as both
AI Overviews and AI Mode cite different pages. A tracker that covers one and reports Google AI visibility as a single number is measuring less than half of the picture.
A price you cannot compute per prompt
Presets, configurators and suite bundles all hide the prompt count. If you cannot work out the price per prompt from the pricing page, ask before you sign.
The basics
What an AI Overview tracker measures
An AI Overview tracker records whether Google's AI-generated answers name your brand or cite your pages, and does it on a schedule so you can see the trend. The two Google surfaces it covers are AI Overviews, the summary Google adds to some results pages, and AI Mode, the conversational search you open yourself. Google says the two may use different models and techniques, so the responses and links they show will vary.
The category overlaps with rank tracking on one side and AI visibility tracking on the other, and vendors use the same words for different measurements. The definitions here are how the terms are used on this page.
Glossary10 terms
AI Overview
The AI-generated summary Google shows at the top of some results pages, with a panel of cited sources. Google shows one only when its systems decide it adds to classic search, so many keywords never trigger it.
AI Mode
Google's conversational search, opened from a tab on the results page or the Google app. It runs query fan-out, cites sources, and has no ranked results page of its own, so it can only be tracked at prompt level.
Keyword-level tracking
Recording, for a keyword you already track, whether an AI Overview appeared and whether your URL is cited in it. A rank-tracker measurement.
Prompt-level tracking
Running a full question, storing the answer, and listing the URLs it cites. The measurement dedicated AI answer trackers make, and the only way to track AI Mode.
Trigger share
The share of your tracked keywords that currently show an AI Overview. Useful for sizing the exposure; useless on its own for fixing it.
Cited URL
A page listed in an AI Overview's or AI Mode's source panel. The unit you can actually influence, because Google built the answer from it.
Query fan-out
The set of searches Google runs behind one question in AI Mode (and often AI Overviews). Those searches choose the sources, which is why a page can be cited for a question it never ranked for.
Prompt allowance
How many prompts a plan tracks, and how often. Daily, weekly and monthly allowances are not comparable without the cadence.
Credit
A metered unit some tools charge per AI response. The cost of tracking one prompt depends on how many models and how many days you run it.
Model slot
A plan that includes three models of your choice makes each Google surface spend a slot. The entry price then buys less coverage than the hero suggests.
An AI Overview tracker tells you whether Google’s AI answers name your brand and which pages they were built from, and it does that on a schedule so you can see the trend. Prefer ranks first on this page because it tracks Google AI Overviews and AI Mode on every plan, shows the cited URLs behind each answer, and writes the content that wins the citation, from $24 a month. It is our product, and we say so. The ten other trackers here were read from their own pricing and feature pages between 16 and 26 September 2026, and each entry names what it does better than us.
The thing most roundups miss is that “AI Overview tracking” describes two different measurements, and most tools do one.
Two columns. Keyword-level (rank trackers), for each keyword you already track: Did Google show an AI Overview?, Is my URL cited inside it?, What share of my keywords trigger one?, Blind to AI Mode: no results page to rank in. Prompt-level (answer trackers), for each question you run: What did the answer say about me?, Which URLs was it built from?, How do I compare to named competitors?, Works for AI Overviews and AI Mode.
The two measurements sold as AI Overview tracking. Rank trackers report presence on keywords; answer trackers store the answer and its cited URLs. Conceptual summary.
Keyword-level tracking lives inside a rank tracker. For every keyword you already track, it records whether Google showed an AI Overview and whether your URL is one of the pages cited inside it. SE Ranking and AccuRanker do this well: both report how many of your keywords trigger an AI Overview, and SE Ranking adds where your site ranks inside it and a history. Prompt-level tracking runs a full question, stores the answer, and lists the URLs it cites. That is what Prefer, LLMrefs, Otterly, Peec AI, AthenaHQ and ZipTie do, and it is the only way to track AI Mode, which has no ranked results page for a rank tracker to read.
The two surfaces also disagree with each other. In Prefer’s September 2026 capture of 80 questions, only 32% of the pages AI Mode cited also appeared in the AI Overview for the same question, and Google’s own documentation says the two may use different models and techniques. A tracker that covers one Google surface and reports it as your AI visibility is measuring less than half of the picture. The full comparison is in our AI Overviews vs AI Mode answer.
Summary graphic of 4 items: 1. Which measurement: Keyword-level presence, prompt-level answers, or both. Decide which question you have first. 2. AI Mode at your tier: Included, an add-on, a model slot, or a name in a pricing table. The gate vendors use most. 3. Cited URLs shown: The pages the answer was built from, not a presence flag. The unit you can influence. 4. Price per prompt: Entry price divided by prompts included, with the cadence. Allowances run from 5 to 500.
The four buying questions for an AI Overview tracker. Conceptual summary.
AI Mode is the gate to read carefully. Prefer and SE Ranking include it at entry. Otterly sells it as an add-on on every tier, AthenaHQ starts it at the $295 Starter, Peec AI makes it spend one of your three model slots, and Nightwatch names it in its pricing table without describing the feature on its AI tracking page. Ahrefs, Semrush and AccuLLM include it, at 5, 25 and 100 prompts respectively.
Price per prompt spreads by more than a hundredfold. LLMrefs tracks 500 keyword-generated prompts for $79 a month, under $0.20 each. Otterly’s $29 buys 15 prompts. SE Ranking’s $129 Core includes 100 prompts a day plus a full SEO suite. Ahrefs includes 5 tracked prompts on its $129 Lite plan, which is a suite price rather than a tracker price, but the arithmetic still comes to more than $25 a prompt. Prefer’s entry plan includes 30 prompts at $24 a month, under a dollar each, with all five engines on every plan and no per-engine add-ons (see pricing).
Prefer (our product): the pick if you want both Google surfaces tracked with the cited URLs and the content written for you. Its honest limit is the one the table shows: it does not report which of your Google keywords trigger an AI Overview. SE Ranking: the best keyword-level tracker here, and the only tool that does both measurements in one subscription; 100 prompts a day on the $129 Core, more on the $89 add-on. Ahrefs Brand Radar: the deepest index, 307.4M AI Overview prompts and 26.5M AI Mode prompts, for teams already on Ahrefs; the 5-prompt Lite meter is the catch. LLMrefs: the volume pick, ten engines and 500 prompts for $79, as long as generated prompts suit you and you note the “limited time” price. Otterly: the cheapest entry at $29, with AI Overviews included and AI Mode extra. Peec AI: clean prompt-level reporting for agencies, with both Google surfaces on the self-serve menu at the cost of two slots. AccuRanker: the agency rank tracker that exports AI Overviews and sells prompt tracking as AccuLLM, from $206. Semrush: $99 per domain for 25 prompts a day across five engines, or Semrush One from $199. Nightwatch: AI tracking on every plan from €99 list, with AI Overviews as a SERP-feature row rather than a report. AthenaHQ: the free start, with AI Overviews on the free tier and AI Mode from $295. ZipTie: the only tool here that tracks Bing’s AI Overview as well as Google’s, from a $42.75 preset whose prompt count we could not read.
We also considered Profound. Its free trial runs 50 prompts daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and its only brand plan is a custom Enterprise quote, so it cannot be placed on the price scale, and AI Mode is not named on the pages we read. See the Profound review for the full picture. For the wider category beyond Google’s surfaces, see the best AI visibility tools; for tools that report rank inside AI answers, the best AI rank trackers.
A 4-step path. 1. undefined (The 30 to 150 buyer questions your category is decided on: category, comparison, pricing, problem.); 2. undefined (Run them in AI Overviews and AI Mode and record who is named and which URLs are cited. Day zero.); 3. undefined (If you run a rank tracker, turn on its AI Overview feature to see trigger share on keywords you already rank for.); 4. undefined (Every lost citation becomes one action: a page, a fix to the page Google already cites, or an outreach.).
The standard setup sequence for AI Overview tracking, tool-agnostic. Conceptual.
Start with a baseline before you pay for anything. The free AI visibility checker runs your questions live across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini and returns the sources each answer cited, with no account. Then decide which measurement you need, and put a tracker on the questions you decide to fight for. What to do about a lost citation is in our guides to appearing in Google AI Overviews and appearing in Google AI Mode, and the verified AI visibility tool pricing index keeps the dedicated trackers’ prices current with a checked-on date on each.
People also ask
The questions buyers ask next.
Give a tracker the questions your buyers ask and let it run them for you; Prefer does this on Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, recording whether you are named, which URLs the answer cites, and how you compare to named competitors. If you want to know which of your existing keywords trigger an AI Overview, add a rank tracker with an AIO feature. To fix what you find, start with the on-page work in our guide.
AI Overviews appear on their own on some results pages; AI Mode is a search you open, and the two cite different pages. In Prefer's September 2026 capture of 80 questions, only 32% of AI Mode's cited pages also appeared in the AI Overview. An AI Overview can be tracked at keyword level or prompt level; AI Mode has no results page, so it is prompt level only. Prefer tracks both on every plan.
Prefer's free AI visibility checker runs your buyer questions across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini with no account, and every paid plan has a free trial. AthenaHQ's free tier includes AI Overviews with 300 credits, SE Ranking's free checker allows 5 checks a day, and ZipTie and Profound run 7-day trials that include AI Overviews. Free options give you a reading, not a history.
Yes, at keyword level: SE Ranking, AccuRanker and Nightwatch all flag AI Overviews as a SERP feature on tracked keywords, and SE Ranking and AccuRanker add trigger share, contributing URLs and exports. What a rank tracker cannot do is track AI Mode, which has no results page, while Prefer covers AI Mode at prompt level on every plan.
For a one-time check, Prefer's free AI visibility checker runs your questions live and returns the sources cited, with no account. SE Ranking's free checker reports brand mentions and linked mentions for up to 5 competitors, 5 checks a day. A checker gives you today's reading; the trackers on this page give you the trend.
Questions

What is the best AI Overview tracker in 2026?
Prefer is our pick for the best AI Overview tracker in 2026 because it tracks Google AI Overviews and AI Mode on every plan, shows the URLs behind each answer, and writes the content that wins the citation, from $24 a month. It is our own product, so weigh that. SE Ranking is the best keyword-level tracker, LLMrefs the cheapest per prompt at $79 a month for 500 prompts, and Otterly the cheapest entry at $29 a month.
How do I track my brand in Google AI Overviews?
Prefer tracks it for you: enter the questions your buyers ask, and it records whether an AI Overview names your brand, which URLs it cites, and how you compare to named competitors, from $24 a month. Doing it by hand means searching each question in a clean US browser, screenshotting the AI Overview and its source panel, and repeating that by hand, which stops scaling after about twenty questions. If you also want to know which of your existing Google keywords trigger an AI Overview, add a rank tracker with an AIO feature, such as SE Ranking or AccuRanker.
What is the difference between AI Overviews and AI Mode tracking?
AI Overviews are summaries Google adds to some results pages on its own; AI Mode is a conversational search you open yourself, and the two cite different pages. In Prefer's September 2026 test of 80 questions, only 32% of the pages AI Mode cited also appeared in the AI Overview. Tracking them is different too: an AI Overview can be tracked at keyword level (did one appear for this keyword, is my URL in it), while AI Mode has no results page to rank in, so it is only tracked at prompt level. Prefer tracks both on every plan.
Is there a free AI Overview tracker?
Yes, with limits. Prefer runs a free AI visibility audit on your buyer questions, including Google AI Overviews, and every paid plan has a free trial. AthenaHQ's Essential tier is free with 300 credits across five models including AI Overviews. SE Ranking's free checker allows 5 checks a day, ZipTie's 7-day trial runs 25 prompts on ChatGPT, AI Overviews and Perplexity, and Profound's 7-day trial covers 50 prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews. None of the free options keeps a history for long; that is what the paid plans are for.
What is the difference between keyword-level and prompt-level AI Overview tracking?
Keyword-level tracking lives in a rank tracker: for each keyword you already track, it records whether Google showed an AI Overview and whether your URL is cited inside it. Prompt-level tracking, which Prefer runs on Google AI Overviews and AI Mode plus ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, runs a full question, stores the answer text, and lists every URL the answer was built from. SE Ranking is the tool on this list that does both, and AccuRanker does both across two subscriptions.
How much do AI Overview trackers cost?
Prefer starts at $24 a month for 30 prompts on five engines, including Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. Otterly's Lite is $29 for 15 prompts (AI Mode extra), LLMrefs is $79 for 500 keyword-generated prompts, Peec AI is $95 for 50 prompts on three models of your choice, Semrush's toolkit is $99 per domain for 25 prompts a day, SE Ranking Core is $129 for 100 prompts a day plus the full SEO suite, AccuLLM Lite is $206 for 100 prompts, and Nightwatch Starter is €99 list for 50 prompts. Ahrefs includes 5 tracked prompts on its $129 Lite plan. Prices checked between 19 and 26 September 2026; AthenaHQ is free to start and ZipTie starts at a $42.75 preset.
Can I track Google AI Mode with a rank tracker?
Only at prompt level, which is how Prefer tracks AI Mode on every plan: it runs your prompts and records the answer and its cited URLs. AI Mode has no ranked results page, so a rank tracker cannot flag it as a SERP feature the way it does an AI Overview. Among the rank trackers here, SE Ranking's AI Mode tracker and AccuRanker's AccuLLM do the same at prompt level; Nightwatch lists AI Mode in its pricing table without describing the feature.
Answer a few questions and the shortlist writes itself.
01
Do you manage a keyword list or a question list?
If your unit is the questions buyers ask, Prefer tracks that list and shows the URLs each answer cites in Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. If your unit is the keywords you already track, buy a rank tracker with an AIO feature (SE Ranking, AccuRanker) and get trigger share beside your rankings. SE Ranking is the one tracker here that covers both lists in one subscription.
02
Do you need AI Mode, or only AI Overviews?
If your category is decided in comparison and research questions, AI Mode matters, and it is the surface vendors gate. Check the entry tier: Prefer and SE Ranking include it, Otterly sells it as an add-on, AthenaHQ starts it at $295, and Peec makes it spend a model slot.
03
Will someone act on what the tracker finds?
If yes, buy the cheapest tracker that shows cited URLs and let your team do the work. If no, a tracker that only measures is a recurring reminder of a problem nobody is fixing; Prefer writes the content, and Prefer Managed does the off-page work.
04
How many prompts do you actually need?
Most categories are decided on 30 to 150 buyer questions, and that question list is what Prefer tracks. Count yours, then divide each entry price by the prompts it includes. A $129 plan with 5 prompts and a $79 plan with 500 are not in the same market.
