The 9 Best LLM Visibility Tools in 2026, Compared by Model
Prefer is our pick: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode on every plan from $24/mo. 9 LLM visibility tools compared model by model.
Prefer is the best LLM visibility tool when your buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews or Google AI Mode: all five are on every plan from $24/mo, the lowest paid entry price on this list, with AI articles included. Claude is on Prefer's Enterprise plan. For Claude on a self-serve plan, AthenaHQ lists 11 models on its $295/mo Starter. For the widest list under an enterprise contract, Profound covers up to nine engines daily at a custom price.
Our pick (our product)PreferFive engines on every plan from $24/mo

Widest list, enterpriseProfoundUp to nine engines, daily, custom price
DisclosurePrefer publishes this list and ranks itself first, as our pick and our product. The other eight follow a stated rule (models included at the tier you would buy, then price), and every entry says where it beats us. We did not run trial accounts of the rival tools. We read their pricing pages in a rendered browser, read their docs, and measured how four AI engines answer buyers' questions.
In short
The takeaways, up front.
An LLM visibility tool asks AI models your buyers' questions and records, model by model, whether your brand is named and cited. It is not LLM observability, which monitors an AI app you build.
Check the models on the plan you would buy. Of the tools the engines named most for 'which tools track ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude', none sells Claude on a card-paid plan without an add-on: Otterly charges extra, Peec AI and Semrush list it under Enterprise, and Profound's only paid brand plan is a custom Enterprise contract.
Read the meter as well as the model list. On Ahrefs Lite, one Claude prompt tracked daily needs 240 checks a month against 150 included. AthenaHQ's Starter runs on 3,600 credits a month.
The four models behave differently. In our September 2026 study, two runs of the same question shared, on average, 37% of the sites cited across both on ChatGPT, 35% on Gemini, 68% on Claude and 96% on Perplexity.
Mentions and citations are different numbers: across 96 tool answers, Peec AI was named in 55 while a page on peec.ai was a source in 1.
How we evaluated
Four criteria. Nothing else counted.
Prefer is our pick for LLM visibility: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode on every plan from $24/mo, the lowest paid entry price on this list, with AI articles included. Check the models and the meter at the price you would pay: AthenaHQ lists 11 models, Claude included, at $295; Ahrefs Lite lists seven, but its 150 checks cover 5 prompts on one platform.
01
Models included at the tier you would buy
Not the list on the homepage. For each tool we recorded which of seven models (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode) the plan includes at its base price, from pricing pages read in September 2026, and ordered the list by that count, then by price.
02
What each extra model costs, and the meter
Several tools sell models one at a time, or list them all and ration use with credits or checks. A plan that looks cheap can double once you add the models your buyers use at the volume you need, so we priced the add-ons and read the meters wherever the vendor publishes them.
03
Mentions and citations, per model
Being named in an answer and being a cited source are different events, and the four engines produce them at very different rates. A tool should report both, split by model, instead of one blended score.
Include Claude, Copilot and both Google AI surfaces on the plan you buy, often with Grok, DeepSeek or Meta AI as well. The catch is a meter: credits, checks, or a custom contract decides how much of each model you actually get.
Buy one if Claude or Copilot has to be in your data.
Fixed-set platforms
Prefer, Semrush, Otterly, Scrunch
Track the same four or five engines on every plan and put the rest behind add-ons or Enterprise. Easy to budget, and complete if your buyers ask the engines on the list.
Buy one if the fixed list matches where your buyers ask.
Pick-your-models monitors
Peec AI
Let you choose which models to pay for: three per plan from a menu of six, with more at a monthly price per model. Efficient when your market sits in two or three engines.
Buy one if you already know which three models matter.
The ranked list
Every tool worth shortlisting.
Prefer first (our product, disclosed); the rest by how many of seven major models the plan includes at its base price, then by lowest price, custom last.

Prefer
tryprefer.com
Five engines on every planFrom $24/mo, free trial
Prefer, our product, runs your tracked prompts through five engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode) on every plan, with no per-engine add-ons. It benchmarks your share of voice against competitors engine by engine and shows the third-party sources shaping each answer. Tracking comes with the work attached: AI articles on every plan and a prioritized action engine from Growth. Prefer Enterprise adds every other AI model you need, such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Meta AI, DeepSeek and Qwen.
Strengths
All five engines on every plan from $24/mo (30 prompts), with no per-engine add-ons
Share of voice per engine, and the third-party sources behind each answer
Tracking and the work in one tool: AI articles on every plan, a prioritized action engine from Growth
Limitations
Claude, Copilot and other models beyond the five come with Enterprise, not self-serve plans
A young company, founded in 2025
VerdictPick it if the five engines it covers are where your buyers ask and you want the work done as well as the tracking. Look elsewhere if Claude or Copilot has to be in your data at a self-serve price.

Ahrefs Brand Radar
ahrefs.com
Inside the Ahrefs suiteWith Ahrefs plans from $129/mo
Brand Radar comes with every paid Ahrefs plan from Lite at $129/mo, and tracked prompts can run on seven platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode), with mentions, citations and AI share of voice reported separately. The meter is tight at entry: Lite includes 5 tracked prompts and 150 checks a month, which Ahrefs equates to 5 prompts on one platform, daily. A Claude update costs 8 checks, so one Claude prompt tracked daily needs 240 checks a month, more than Lite's whole allowance. Claude fits on Lite on a weekly or monthly schedule, or with a prompt package (from $50/mo for 2,500 checks). The separate AI Visibility Index costs $199/mo per platform, or $699/mo for all of its platforms, and its engine list leaves out Claude, which Ahrefs offers on tracked (Custom) prompts only.
Strengths
Seven platforms available, Claude and Copilot among them, with cadence set per platform (daily, weekly or monthly)
Mentions, citations and AI share of voice reported as separate numbers
Limitations
Lite's 150 checks a month cover 5 prompts on one platform daily; one daily Claude prompt alone needs 240
The AI Visibility Index ($199/mo per platform) does not list Claude
VerdictThe easy yes for a team that already runs Ahrefs. Do the check arithmetic before you plan on seven platforms: on Lite, run Claude weekly or buy a check package. Visit site →

AthenaHQ
athenahq.ai
11 models, self-serveFree, then $295/mo
AthenaHQ's free Essential plan covers five models (ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot) with 300 credits. The $295/mo Starter lists 11: those five plus AI Mode, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral, with 3,600 credits, on-page and off-page actions and a content optimization agent.
Strengths
11 models on a self-serve plan, including Claude, AI Mode, Grok, DeepSeek and Meta AI
A free tier with five models to start
Limitations
Claude and AI Mode start at the $295 tier, not the free one
Credit-based, and API access and extra credits are add-ons with no published prices
VerdictThe pick if Claude has to be in the data and you would rather pay by card than sign an Enterprise contract. Compare vs Prefer →

Evertune
evertune.ai
Sampling depthFrom $800/mo
Evertune's $800/mo Pro plan tracks 100,000 prompts across 11 AI models (pricing page, rendered 19 September 2026). The pricing page gives the count, not the names. Evertune's homepage lists ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, DeepSeek and Meta AI (read 5 September) and says it samples each prompt up to 100 times per model. Pro also includes 25 AI-optimized articles a month, affiliate partnerships and AI retargeting, so part of the plan is an activation layer on top of the measurement.
Strengths
Says it samples each prompt up to 100 times per model, a direct answer to answers that change between runs
11 models on the Pro plan, Claude and Copilot among them
Limitations
$800/mo is the entry price
Part of the plan is ads and affiliate activation, which teams that only want measurement may not use (our read)
VerdictThe most serious answer to run-to-run variance that we found. Most teams will not need it; brands that buy media against AI answers might. Visit site →
05
Profound
tryprofound.com
Enterprise, up to 9 enginesFree trial, then Enterprise (custom)
Brands get two routes on Profound's pricing page: a free Trial (50 prompts, run daily for 7 days, on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) and Enterprise at a custom price, with up to nine answer engines tracked daily. On 18 September 2026 the Enterprise list named ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Exa Search. Enterprise also lists API access, all-time history, SSO/SAML and SOC 2 compliance.
Strengths
Up to nine engines tracked daily on Enterprise, Claude and Copilot included
SSO/SAML and SOC 2 compliance listed on the Enterprise plan
Limitations
No published brand price, and the free trial runs 50 prompts daily for 7 days, on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews
The engine list is set in the contract, and the published list changed between our 16 and 18 September checks (Grok out, Exa Search in)
VerdictThe safer choice when procurement and a security review decide. Budget for a custom quote; there is no self-serve brand plan to start on. Compare vs Prefer →
06
Semrush AI Visibility
semrush.com
SEO suite plus daily AI trackingFrom $99/mo per domain
Semrush's cheapest AI visibility option is the standalone AI Visibility toolkit: $99/mo per domain for 25 prompts tracked daily. Semrush's own plan comparison lists the toolkit's engines as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini, and puts Claude, Copilot, Grok and DeepSeek on its custom Enterprise AI Optimization plan (read 19 September). Semrush One Starter ($199/mo, checked 19 September) bundles the SEO suite with 50 prompts tracked daily.
Strengths
25 prompts tracked daily on the $99 standalone toolkit
Semrush One Starter ($199/mo) puts 50 daily prompts inside the SEO suite
Limitations
Claude and Copilot only on the custom Enterprise AI Optimization plan (19 September)
The $99 toolkit is priced per domain: each extra domain is another $99/mo
VerdictRight for a Semrush team that mostly needs ChatGPT and Google's AI answers. Not the tool for Claude at a self-serve price: Semrush lists Claude only on Enterprise. Compare vs Prefer →
07
Otterly
otterly.ai
Low-cost daily monitorFrom $29/mo, free trial
Every Otterly tier tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot daily. Gemini and AI Mode are add-ons ($9/mo each on the $29 Lite plan, $59 on Standard, $149 on Premium), and Claude costs more ($29, $109 and $439). Lite includes 15 prompts; the $189 Standard tier has 100 prompts plus API and MCP access.
Strengths
Daily tracking on every tier from $29/mo
Add-on prices for each model are published, so the full cost is knowable up front
Limitations
Gemini, AI Mode and Claude are paid add-ons on every tier
15 prompts on the $29 Lite plan
VerdictA credible low-cost daily monitor. Add up the model add-ons before you compare it with plans that include them. Compare vs Prefer →
08
Scrunch
scrunch.com
Copilot plus 125 promptsFrom $250/mo
Scrunch Core ($250/mo) covers four models (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot) with 125 prompts, 5 site audits a month and 5 seats. Enterprise lists nine, adding Claude, Gemini, Meta AI, AI Mode and Grok, plus API access and SSO. Its published plan structure has changed twice since July.
Strengths
125 prompts on the entry plan
Copilot at entry, plus site audits
Limitations
Claude, Gemini and AI Mode only on Enterprise
The published plan structure changed twice between July and September 2026
VerdictA fit when Copilot matters and you track many prompts. A poor fit if Gemini or Claude is where your buyers ask. Compare vs Prefer →
09
Peec AI
peec.ai
Choose your three modelsFrom $95/mo
Every self-serve Peec plan includes three models you choose, daily tracking and unlimited users; Starter is $95/mo for 50 prompts. The self-serve menu lists six models: ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Naver AI and Gemini (rendered 19 September). Perplexity is not on that menu, though Peec's paid add-on list names it. The Enterprise list names 14 models, Claude Sonnet 4, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, Qwen and Mistral among them, while the Enterprise card says up to 13.
Strengths
Pick the three models that matter to you, tracked daily
Unlimited users on every self-serve plan
Limitations
Claude Sonnet 4 is listed under Enterprise, and neither Claude nor Perplexity is on the self-serve menu (19 September)
Each extra model is $30/mo on Starter, $70 on Pro and $140 on Advanced
VerdictGood value when your buyers concentrate in two or three engines. Price it with add-ons if you need all six. Compare vs Prefer →
Side by side
The whole field, one table.
Models on the plan named in the coverage table, checked 19 September 2026 (Profound 18 September). Partial means a paid add-on, one of Peec AI's three picks, or a model the meter cannot run daily (Claude on Ahrefs Lite). Peec AI's Perplexity cell is partial because Perplexity is on its add-on list, not its self-serve menu. Semrush's cells follow its own plan comparison table.

What changed in 2026
Four shifts that reshaped the category.
This list looked different a year ago. These are the changes that moved it.
01
Models became the upsell meter
Vendors now sell coverage the way they sell prompts. Otterly prices each extra model by tier, Peec AI includes three and charges for the rest, and Scrunch, whose published plans changed twice between July and September, now tracks four models on its entry plan and keeps Claude and Gemini for Enterprise.
02
SEO suites folded AI tracking into their plans
Every paid Ahrefs plan now includes Brand Radar, and Semrush One Starter ($199/mo) includes 50 prompts tracked daily beside the SEO suite. For teams already on a suite, the cheapest AI tracking may be the one they pay for, within its meters.
03
Google's AI answers split in two
AI Overviews and AI Mode are now tracked as separate models. Otterly includes AI Overviews and sells AI Mode as an add-on; Scrunch's Core plan has AI Overviews and not AI Mode. Check both, because they are different surfaces.
04
Model lists change mid-quarter
Peec AI's Enterprise count moved from 11 to 13 models between 23 August and 16 September, and Perplexity, on its self-serve menu in an archived copy from 8 September, was not on it on 19 September. Profound's Enterprise list swapped Grok for Exa Search between 16 and 18 September, days after its brand pricing changed to a free trial plus Enterprise. A coverage table older than a month is a guess.
Red flags
Things to check before you sign.
Every tool here demos well. These are the questions that separate them once the trial ends.
A model list with no plan next to it
Most vendors' homepage lists are longer than their entry plans. Ask which models the plan you will buy includes, and what each extra one costs.
One blended score across models
The four engines search, cite and change at very different rates. A single visibility number averages that away. Ask to see the split by model.
Mentions only, or citations only
Answers written from memory cite nothing, so a citation-only tool misses them. A mention-only tool cannot show which pages a model read. You need both numbers.
No word on how many times each prompt runs
On ChatGPT and Gemini, two runs of one question share only about a third of their sources. Ask how often each prompt runs and how results are combined before you trust a week-on-week change.
A model name with no version
A tool that queries a model through an API chooses the version and whether web search is on. Peec AI's Enterprise list carries 'ChatGPT' and 'GPT 5 Search' as separate entries, and both Peec's list and our own name 'Claude Sonnet 4'. Ask which version, and whether it searches.
A demo about traces and token costs
If the pitch is latency, tracing and cost per call, you are looking at an observability tool for engineers. It will not tell you what ChatGPT says about your brand.
LLM visibility tools ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google’s AI answers the questions your buyers ask, on a schedule, and record whether each model names your brand and cites your pages. Our pick is Prefer: it covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode on every plan from $24/mo, the lowest paid entry price on this list, and writes AI articles too. This list compares it and eight other tools model by model: which models each one covers at the price you would actually pay, and how it deals with the ways the models differ. For the overall ranking of the category, see the best AI visibility tools.
LLM visibility is not LLM observability. Observability tools trace the prompts, costs and errors of an AI app your engineers build. Visibility tools measure what public AI models say about your brand. The two share a name and nothing else. When we asked four AI engines “What are the best LLM tracking tools?”, ChatGPT answered about observability in all three runs (Helicone, LangSmith, Langfuse, Datadog) and named no brand visibility tool. Perplexity, Gemini and Claude named tools of both kinds in 8 of their 9 answers.
Which models each tool covers at the price you would pay#
Most vendors’ homepages list more models than their entry plans include. The table below is the plan, not the homepage: what each tool includes at the price in the second column, read on its pricing page in September 2026.

Grid of nine AI visibility tools against seven AI engines, showing which models each plan includes. Prefer, our product (Starter, 30 prompts): ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Overviews and AI Mode included, Claude and Copilot on Enterprise. Ahrefs Brand Radar (Lite, 150 checks a month): six included, Claude listed but the meter cannot run it daily at 8 checks per update. AthenaHQ (Starter, 3,600 credits), Evertune (Pro, 100,000 prompts) and Profound (Enterprise, contract): all seven included. Semrush AI Visibility (Base, 25 prompts daily): five included, Claude and Copilot on Enterprise. Otterly (Lite, 15 prompts daily): ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and Copilot included, Gemini, AI Mode and Claude paid add-ons. Scrunch (Core, 125 prompts): ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and Copilot included, Gemini, AI Mode and Claude on Enterprise. Peec AI (Starter, 50 prompts daily): pick 3 of ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Copilot and Naver AI, Perplexity a paid add-on rather than a pick, Claude on Enterprise.
Which models each plan includes, from vendor pricing pages read in a rendered browser on 19 September 2026 (Profound 18 September). A model on the list is not always one you can run daily.
Three things stand out when you read it by column rather than by row.
A model on the list is not a model you can run every day. The meter column decides that, and the next section does the arithmetic.
The tools AI engines recommend for multi-model tracking gate the fourth model. We asked ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude, three times each, “Which AI visibility tools track ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude?” The tools they named most were Profound (in 10 of 12 answers), Otterly (9), Semrush (8), then Peec AI and Frase (7 each). Leaving Frase aside, none of the first four sells Claude on a card-paid plan without an add-on. Otterly charges extra for it, Peec AI and Semrush list it under Enterprise, and Profound’s only paid brand plan is a custom Enterprise contract.
Copilot splits the field the other way. Otterly and Scrunch include it at entry. Prefer’s self-serve plans and Semrush’s base plan do not; Prefer covers it on Enterprise. On Peec AI it is one of the six models you can pick.
Several plans list many models and ration them with a meter. On Ahrefs Lite, one Claude prompt tracked daily needs 240 checks a month, and the plan includes 150. Ahrefs equates Lite’s 150 checks to 5 prompts on one platform, daily, and a Claude update costs 8 checks, so 8 checks a day for 30 days comes to 240. On Lite, Claude fits on a weekly or monthly schedule, or with a prompt package (from $50/mo for 2,500 more checks). The seven platforms are real; running all seven daily is not what Lite buys.
AthenaHQ’s Starter runs on 3,600 credits a month. Evertune’s Pro plan and Profound’s Enterprise contract set volume in the plan itself. Prefer’s plans set a prompt count instead (30 on Starter), and each tracked prompt runs on all five engines.
Where models are sold one at a time, Claude costs the most: Otterly charges $29 a month to add it on Lite against $9 for Gemini or AI Mode, and $439 on Premium. Peec AI, Scrunch and Semrush list Claude under Enterprise, and so do we: Prefer’s Enterprise plan adds any model you need, such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Meta AI, DeepSeek, Qwen, to the five engines on every plan. Claude was also the most expensive of the four engines in our own study: the same API provider billed $10.73 for 240 Claude answers and $3.73 for 240 ChatGPT answers.
The four engines answer differently, so one blended score hides the story#
On 13 September 2026 we asked 80 questions about AI search, three times each, on four engines through an API, with web search requested on every call: ChatGPT (gpt-5.6-luna), Gemini (gemini-3.8-flash), Claude (claude-sonnet-5) and Perplexity (sonar-pro), 960 answers in all. The full data is on the AI answer study page. Here is how each engine behaved across all 80 questions.

The last column reads: two runs of the same question shared, on average, that share of the sites cited across both. Perplexity cites about six times as many sources per answer as ChatGPT and returns almost the same ones every run. ChatGPT and Gemini change most of their sources between runs.
The engines also read different parts of the web. Taking our eight tool questions one at a time, 327 of the 388 sites cited on a question were cited by only one of the four engines. One site, ahrefs.com on the free-checker question, was cited by all four.
Three bar charts comparing four AI engines in the September 2026 AI answer study. Searched the web: ChatGPT 90% (216 of 240 answers), Gemini 89% (213 of 240), Claude 80% (192 of 240), Perplexity 100% (240 of 240). If you track one model, you see one model’s shortlist. Claude named AthenaHQ in 9 of its 24 answers; ChatGPT named it in 4. Scrunch runs the other way, 13 on ChatGPT and 6 on Claude. The lists also move inside a single engine. Asked “What is the best AI visibility tool?” three times, ChatGPT headed its answer “Best overall: Profound”, then “Best overall: Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit”, then Profound again, all within 15 seconds. Across the eight tool questions, two answers from the same engine to the same question shared, on average, 54% of the tools named across both. Two answers from different engines shared 26%.

A mention is your brand named in the answer. A citation is your page listed as a source. They move separately, and the gap can be large. Across the 96 answers to our eight tool questions, for the tools ranked here:

The split also runs by engine. Perplexity cited a page on Profound’s site in 9 of its 24 answers. ChatGPT named Profound in 16 answers and cited its site in none. Evertune shows the reverse: Claude cited Evertune’s own “10 Best AI Visibility Tools for 2026” article in 5 answers and named Evertune in 2 of them. A tool that reports one number cannot tell you which of the two you have.
Some tools report the two apart: Ahrefs Brand Radar shows mentions, citations and AI share of voice as separate metrics, and Otterly tracks mentions and link citations. Prefer, our product, shows the third-party sources shaping each answer. For the definitions, see mention vs citation.
Paired bar chart of answers naming each tool against answers citing a page on the tool's own site, across 96 tool answers from four engines, for the tools compared in this guide. Semrush named 72, cited 20; Otterly 62 and 9; Profound 58 and 12; Peec AI 55 and 1; Ahrefs Brand Radar 52 and 14; Scrunch 33 and 4; AthenaHQ 23 and 0; Evertune 2 and 5. Notes: Peec AI's one cited page was a comparison page in a Gemini answer; Claude cited Evertune's own roundup of AI visibility tools.
Being named in the answer and being cited as the source are two different numbers. Prefer AI answer study, 13 September 2026.
Web search was requested on every call in our study, and the engines still answered 99 of 960 questions without searching: Claude 48, Gemini 27, ChatGPT 24, Perplexity 0. None of those 99 answers cited a single source. The decision is not stable either. On 13 of 80 questions, Claude searched on some runs and not on others; Gemini did the same on 13 and ChatGPT on 4.
It depends on the question. On our tool questions, 191 of 192 answers searched. On eight questions about what GEO means, ChatGPT answered 13 of 24 from memory. So for informational prompts, part of your visibility comes from what a model learned in training, and those answers have no citation to win. A mention count still sees them; a citation count does not. Ask a vendor whether it records when a model did not search. More on this in does ChatGPT use live search.
Prefer is our product and our pick, so here is where we would send you elsewhere:
You need Claude, Copilot, Grok or Meta AI at a self-serve price. Prefer’s self-serve plans cover five engines; all four come with Prefer Enterprise. AthenaHQ’s $295 Starter lists all four.
You want many samples per model. Evertune says it samples each prompt up to 100 times per model.
A security review decides the purchase. Profound’s Enterprise plan lists SSO/SAML and SOC 2 compliance on its pricing page.
You already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs and mostly need ChatGPT and Google’s AI answers. The suite add-on is the lower-friction buy.
Vendor track record weighs heavily. Prefer is young; it was founded in 2025.
Where it fits: teams whose buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and who want the work done as well as the tracking. Every plan covers all five, from $24/mo for 30 prompts, with share of voice per engine, the sources behind each answer, and 15 AI articles a month on Starter. The trial is 7 days with no card. See pricing, or run the free audit to see which engines your buyers’ questions land on first.
Pricing and plan contents: read in a rendered browser on 19 September 2026, with Profound on 18 September. That includes Peec AI’s self-serve model menu, AthenaHQ’s Starter model list, Ahrefs’ meters and Semrush’s plan comparison table.
Docs: vendor product pages and help docs, listed under Sources.
Measurement: the September 2026 AI answer study above: 80 questions, four engines, three runs each, 960 answers, run on 13 September 2026 through an API. The tool figures use its eight tool questions (96 answers).
Not done: we did not run trial accounts of the rival tools, so nothing here compares a tool’s reported numbers with ours.
Order: Prefer first, as our pick and our product. The other eight are ordered by how many of the seven models (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode) the plan in the table includes at its base price, then by price, lowest first, with custom pricing last. Peec AI’s three chosen models count as three. Ahrefs counts seven, with the Claude meter noted.
Software that asks AI models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude the questions your buyers ask, on a schedule, and records whether each answer names your brand and cites your pages. Prefer is one: it runs your prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. The useful ones split the numbers by model, keep the answer text and cited URLs, and compare you with the competitors named beside you.
No. Observability tools such as Helicone, LangSmith and Langfuse trace the prompts, costs, latency and errors of an AI app your engineers build, while visibility tools such as Prefer measure what public AI models say about your brand. When we asked four engines for the best LLM tracking tools, ChatGPT answered about observability in all three runs.
Many plans list several models and cap how much you can run with a meter. Prefer sets a prompt count per plan instead, and each tracked prompt runs on all five of its engines. Ahrefs Lite has 150 checks a month, which Ahrefs equates to 5 prompts on one platform daily; a Claude update costs 8 checks, so one daily Claude prompt needs 240. AthenaHQ's Starter runs on 3,600 credits a month. Multiply prompts by models by runs before you compare prices.
Because the answers do. In Prefer's September 2026 study, two runs of the same question on ChatGPT shared, on average, 37% of the sites cited across both, and on Gemini 35%. Perplexity was the most stable at 96%. A single run is a reading; a trend needs the same prompts asked again over time, which is how Prefer tracks them.
A mention is your brand named in the answer text, and a citation is your page listed as a source. Prefer tracks both across its five engines, because they move separately: across 96 tool answers in Prefer's September 2026 study, Peec AI was named in 55, while a page on its own site was a source in 1.
No. In Prefer's September 2026 study, with web search requested on every call, the models answered 99 of 960 questions without searching: Claude 48, Gemini 27, ChatGPT 24, Perplexity 0. None of those answers cited a source. On 'best tool' questions nearly every answer searched; on 'what is' questions far fewer did.
Prefer is the best pick if your buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews or Google AI Mode: all five are on every plan from $24/mo, with AI articles included, and Claude is on Enterprise. For Claude on a self-serve plan, AthenaHQ lists 11 models on its $295/mo Starter. Ahrefs Brand Radar lists seven inside Ahrefs plans from $129/mo, though Lite's 150 checks a month cover 5 prompts on one platform. Profound covers up to nine engines on a custom Enterprise contract. Prices as read on vendor pricing pages in September 2026.
Which LLM visibility tools include Claude?
Prefer adds Claude on its Enterprise plan, and every Prefer plan covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. At the base price of the plan, as of September 2026, AthenaHQ (the $295/mo Starter, not the free tier), Evertune ($800/mo Pro) and Profound (custom Enterprise) include Claude. Ahrefs Brand Radar lists Claude with Ahrefs plans from $129/mo, but a Claude update costs 8 checks, so on Lite (150 checks a month) Claude fits only on a weekly or monthly schedule. Otterly sells Claude as an add-on ($29 to $439/mo by tier). Peec AI, Scrunch and Semrush list it under Enterprise.
How much do LLM visibility tools cost?
Prefer starts at $24/mo, the lowest paid entry price on this list, with all five engines and AI articles on every plan. The other entry prices on vendor pricing pages in September 2026: $29 (Otterly), $95 (Peec AI), $99 per domain (Semrush AI Visibility; Semrush One with the SEO suite from $199), $129 (Ahrefs Lite, which includes Brand Radar), $250 (Scrunch Core), $295 (AthenaHQ Starter, after a free tier) and $800 (Evertune Pro). Profound publishes no brand price: a free 7-day trial on three engines, then a custom Enterprise quote. The entry price rarely buys every model at the volume you need, so add the model add-ons and check the meter.
What is the difference between LLM visibility tools and AI visibility tools?
They are the same products under two names, and Prefer is one of them. 'LLM visibility' puts the emphasis on the models, which is why this page compares tools model by model. For the overall ranking of the category, see our best AI visibility tools list.
How many models should an LLM visibility tool track?
The ones your buyers use, and no fewer. Prefer tracks five on every plan: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. In Prefer's September 2026 study, 84% of the sites one engine cited on a tool question were cited by no other engine, so a tool that tracks one model shows you one model's view. Past that, more models only help if you act on them. Four models your buyers use beat ten they do not.
Answer a few questions and the shortlist writes itself.
01
Which models do your buyers actually ask?
Start there, not with the longest list. If they use ChatGPT and Google, Prefer covers you on every plan, as do most tools here at entry. If Claude or Copilot matters, the shortlist narrows to the every-model trackers, or to add-ons and Enterprise plans elsewhere.
02
Does Claude have to be in the data?
If yes, Prefer is not your pick below Enterprise: it lists Claude on Enterprise only, as do Peec AI, Scrunch and Semrush. The card-paid routes are AthenaHQ Starter ($295), Otterly with a Claude add-on, and Ahrefs Brand Radar on a weekly Claude schedule or with a check package. Evertune and Profound include it at a higher price.
03
Who will act on the numbers?
If someone on your team already turns visibility data into content and outreach, buy the monitor that covers your models at the lowest cost. If nobody does, weight tools that come with the work, such as Prefer's articles and action queue or AthenaHQ's actions.
