Every kind of plan change, and when it takes effect
Prefer separates moves that give you more from moves that give you less. On Prefer, an upgrade takes effect the moment you make it, while a downgrade or cancellation waits until the end of the period you already paid for. There is no minimum term on Starter, Growth or Scale.
The billing portal becomes available once a card is on file. During the free trial there is no card and nothing to cancel: if the trial ends without an upgrade, tracking pauses and your data is kept.
How to cancel a Prefer plan
- Export anything you want to keep first. Data export is listed on Growth, Scale and Enterprise; on Starter, copy what you need from the dashboard.
- Open the billing portal from your Prefer workspace.
- Choose cancel, or pick a smaller plan if you only want to cut cost. A downgrade keeps tracking running at lower volume.
- Check the confirmation and your renewal date. Plans are billed in advance, and if anything about the timing is unclear, support@tryprefer.com can confirm it.
Managed and annual plans follow their own rules
Two cases need a second look before you decide:- Annual plans are one invoice for 12 months, billed in advance. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the Prefer terms do not describe partial refunds of an annual invoice, so ask the team before you buy annual if that matters to you.
- Prefer Managed starts with a 90-day initial term so the work has time to land, then runs month to month with no auto-renewal. You keep every asset produced, even if you leave.
Frequently asked questions
Does Prefer give refunds if I cancel?
Does Prefer give refunds if I cancel?
Prefer does not offer a money-back guarantee, and its terms describe none. Plans are billed in advance and you can cancel anytime; the card-free 7-day trial is the way to test Prefer before paying. For a specific billing question, contact support@tryprefer.com.
If I downgrade Prefer mid-cycle, do I lose features straight away?
If I downgrade Prefer mid-cycle, do I lose features straight away?
No. Prefer applies downgrades at your next renewal, so you keep the higher plan’s history and allowance until the period you paid for ends. Upgrades are the opposite: they apply immediately.
Can an agency stop paying for one client without cancelling Prefer?
Can an agency stop paying for one client without cancelling Prefer?
Yes. On Prefer’s agency track you pause a client workspace instead of cancelling. Tracking for that client stops, billing for it ends with the current cycle, and its data and settings are kept for when you resume.
