Prefer lists every price in US dollars, and payments are processed by Dodo Payments as merchant of record. At checkout you see your local currency and any applicable tax. Self-serve plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually, and later changes happen in the billing portal once a card is on file. Last updated 3 October 2026

Dollars on the page, your currency at checkout

Every figure on the Prefer pricing page is in USD. Prefer prices are listed in US dollars, but the checkout, run by Dodo Payments as merchant of record, shows your local currency and any tax that applies where you are. So a team in Germany or the UK sees the $24 Starter price converted, with VAT handled by the payment provider. Because Dodo Payments is the merchant of record, it is the seller on your receipt and it collects tax. Prefer itself is operated by Kocoa Technologies Private Limited, based in Mumbai, India.

How payment works, step by step

The self-serve flow is short:
  1. Start with the 7-day free trial. No card is needed, so nothing is charged while you evaluate.
  2. Choose a plan and a billing period. Monthly is billed each month in advance; annual is one invoice for 12 months, also in advance.
  3. Pay at checkout. You see the price in your currency, plus tax, before you confirm.
  4. Manage everything afterwards in the billing portal: upgrades, downgrades, cancellation and payment details.
After your first payment, the Prefer billing portal is the one place to change your plan, update your card or cancel.

Plans that are not paid through checkout

Three Prefer products are set up with the team rather than bought online, so payment is arranged with them:
  • Agency track. $99 a month base plus $299 per active client, billed monthly with one consolidated invoice for every client.
  • Enterprise. Custom-quoted; terms are agreed with the Prefer team.
  • Prefer Managed. $2,500 a month, flat, with a 90-day initial term. Optional paid media, if you run any, is the only separately billed item and is approved by you first.
Prefer does not bill overage on any self-serve plan, so the amount on your invoice is the plan price plus tax. Prefer also offers no money-back guarantee, which is why the card-free trial comes first.

Before you pay

Two checks save time later. First, confirm the billing period: the annual invoice saves at most 20% but is paid up front for 12 months. Second, confirm the tier with a real prompt count, since add-ons cannot be bought on top. For billing questions, email support@tryprefer.com. To compare plans, see Prefer pricing, or run the free audit before you spend anything.

Frequently asked questions

A merchant of record is the company that legally sells to you and handles payment, tax collection and receipts. Prefer uses Dodo Payments in that role, which is why checkout can show local currency and the right tax for your country.
Prefer documents card payment through the self-serve checkout and billing portal for Starter, Growth and Scale. It does not publish other methods. Enterprise, agency and Prefer Managed are set up with the team, so ask about invoicing on that call.
Prefer’s terms say that if a price changes, the new price applies from your next billing cycle, never retroactively. Prefer Managed’s current rate is described on its page as a founding-customer rate locked for 12 months.
